Well, I finally took a good listen to Journey w/Augeri...

and I was amazed at how much I loved the tunes!! I must have listened to "We Will Meet Again" about 15 times--upbeat, rockin', LOVED the singing, LOVED the melody! Really lifted my spirits at work: thanks Steve! There were a couple of other Augeri songs that I thought were pretty dang awesome; it's late and I can't remember the names of them, lol. Anyway, I am ashamed to say that this last month is the first time I really, really just let the songs into my heart and I am so glad they were/are there on my IPod.

I've also been listening to a lot of old Journey with Gregg Rolie and have been amazed by them, too! Absolutely love "Spaceman"; right at the top of my list of favorite songs--Neal laughing at the end was so sweet and poignant... One that I listened to closely last night (doggone it I can't remember the name of it--they played a part of it backward at the end): rockin', fun, melodic, terrific! They all seemed so happy then.

The common denominator amongst all of these songs is Neal. God, what a musician. I don't know if there really is another one that's like him. Haters don't matter really; the music is still there and that's what counts in the end.

P.S. Andrew, I'm sorry you're having a tough time; I hope all is well at home... This other stuff is kinda silly, isn't it? That guy on YouTube got on my nerves pretty quickly with all the cursing; these days I don't think most people will waste their time there... Anyway, sending you best wishes... Please let me know if there's anything I can do..

I enjoyed your post. I also never really listened to their music pre-Perry and starting collecting it. It really does give you an appreciation of Neal's talent.

Everything about that song is sublime. Awesome keyboard intro, a kickass solo, a phenomenal vocal by Augeri, superb writing, and awesome vocal harmonies. I could just hear it being a radio hit. Too bad it never was.

I can definitely relate to the message of walking away from the edge- although I seem to constantly walk tward the edge, stand on one foot like a flamingo and then lean over the prepice as far as possible, before I come to my senses.

Such a great song...not your typical Journey 'love you, don't leave me' ballad. This one had substance, it had meat. Stellar. Never understood why, when the band asked "What song do you want us to play on tour" and WAFTE won, they never played it. I may not be as happy with Arnel, but I would really give almost anything to hear the band play that song in concert!!

Oh, thanks. Hopefully, I will be. I was in a parking lot exit near an intersection. Two lanes of cars stopped waving me through so I could get in the opposite lane of travel. I pulled in front of them and there was no traffic coming the other way as I looked right, but, unfortunatley, a car that was coming up behind the stopped cars went around them to try to get up to a turn lane farther ahead. As he came around them I was easing out and he hit me pretty hard and my car went flying. And I get the ticket, failure to yield, even though he wasn't in a lane.

The album, he sounds GOOD but kinda squeakily adolescent to me where's by Gens he'd found (ironically as it turns out) his niche in Journey and is aggressive confident and menacing.

Me, too. It doesn't really cross my mind much while listening to "Generations" but I'd also stay far away from saying it's Augeri's finest vocal performance.

OK, then I revert back to my initial remarks of the thread, sticklerCT, that Generations was Augeri's "finest studio hour" which I said b/c I knew sooner or later I'd be hit with "well in light of tapegate, it must've taken multiple takes and prolly digital editng and protools..."
When liner notes begin recording number of takes, then I may downgrade my review of Augeri on Generations.
