Well we all know that Steve will do what he wants, when he wants. Whatever makes him happy. He may be insecure, but from what we have heard, his voice is as good as ever. ( And thats a hell of a lot better than good!)

I work with alot of young people and most of them are familiar with Journey, so I make it my mission to familiarize them to not just the Journey, but with Steve and with his voice. If Steve released something new, I can just imagine how many new and younger fans he would have. And of course he would have us old-timers. lol

So Cyndy, you think Nuno has a man crush on Steve? Sounds like I need to break out my taser! lol

Mine too! 8) Might be a little too much soul for Debster to handle though, barely made it through Martin and Soto sharing vocals.

I'm pretty sure if a SP set of mixes was circulated amongst labels for distribution there'd be some major jockeying amongst labels... it'd unleash the whirlwind... the mans legend alone commands respect amongst label. He's money in the bank.

I'm betting that he's thought this through enough, and that "whirlwind" is what he's trying to come to grips with... when he does... game on.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

"Martians ate Elvis and Lyndon Johnson's Love Child!" read the headlines of the National Enquirer, which also featured a sneak preview of Steve Perry's "forthcoming" record.
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives

True.

Honestly, not to emulate SJ here, but the only reason I can think of for him to not release the material he's been working on is insecurity. I won't dispute whether or not the man can still sing, but I think we can all agree that it won't be as technically astounding nor as easy as it used to be. I have no doubt that his voice is still pleasant and full of that emotive quality, but I do believe Perry operates under the mindset that if he can't do it like the '70s, he can't do it at all.

It's a pity.

I disagree that Perry's singing won't be as "technically astounding nor as easy as it used to be." :x I think he is such a perfectionist that this new CD is going to blow everyone's socks off!
That is why it is taking so long for it to come out. He wanted it to be PERFECT............... Any song less than perfect and his complete satisfaction with each song will not be on THIS album...
THe naysayers are going to eat their words.... Perry's going to have that big "Cheshire Cat" smile on his face the day it's released knowing that everyone who said he couldn't sing anymore
are going to be listening with their mouths hanging open down to their kneecaps........!!!!!! I'm going to be listening, thinking.............. Good for you Steve, I knew you could do it! :D

I think Steve should keep doing what he has been doing: Singing on OTHER PEOPLE'S songs.....right now, that is what he is best suited for. That David Pack song was killer.

Um, I don't think the return of a 60-year old former pop band singer (which is how most music fans view him and Journey) would generate much buzz, other than among hardcore Journey fans and loons. I would be one of the first ones to buy it, but it would probably sell a lot less than Revelation did. Especially since Perry could never get a Wal-Mart deal like that.

And I have the solution to that....DUETS. Steve sings a CD of duets...possibly even with some of the recent AI winners. You want to sell CDs, that's what ya gotta do. Carrie Underwood, David Cook, maybe an R&B with Jordin Sparks, Daughtry.....and then a few with some of his peers; Ann Wilson, Stevie Nicks, Sass Jordan, Sir Paul, Sir Elton, Phil Collins, Billy Joel...etc.....even I'D buy that.....

Exactly. And any and all labels know that he would not tour to the degree that they would require him getting the promotional support he would expect. Just wouldn't happen.

God, I hope SP doesn't do a Walmart deal 'cause I sort of hate Walmart.

I read a comment from a site where someone said we need SP in this time of economic woes...balderdash! His putting out new music won't lower the price of bread (which around here is 25 cents more per loaf than the price was a couple of years ago); but new music from him might be nice.

This time around if he releases something, I'll wait for someone to post a free song online, check it out, and then buy the rest. I didn't buy that compilation released recently even if it did have "purdy pictures" 'cause I had a copy of most the songs in triplicate.

Words of understanding and allowance are not helpful. The person will never see it suitable or complete; and you've just given them more time to work on their message of futility. you've just agreed to confining them to their never ending perfect product which only serves their insecurity and fear of failure. it will never ever get done. what we think is fine or he thinks is great or what the next guy considers a masterpiece is never a masterpiece; it's a project in the making. i mean how long has it been--how many years has the public been waiting on this song or songlist? i'd say avoid and ignore; but of course that would never happen cause everyone loves him and his voice - so - but the truth is it's the only way it will ever get done. You have to make him want to complete the piece not rub away at the edges until the edges are so smoth they even disappear.

Oh, so people who sing duets lack integrity? WOW, that's a great working theory NIG....doesn't transfer well in application however.
