They're in better shape than they've been in since '86, ARGUABLY '83.

If you and your backers in this campaign think D2 was a garbage manuever than the third lead singer (behind Rolie and Flieschman) should have opted to keep going @ Trial By Fire or perhaps not put Journey through the ensuing gag orders, permission slips and equal road play causes and then it might not have COME to Revelation D2.
I still think it would have, but still...
PS and stop blaming the exclusive licensing deal w/ WalMart as the other main huge reason behind Reveleation's succeess. EVERYbody can sell at Walmart but also everywhere ELSE if they feel like it (unless Walmart approaches them w/ a deal and they agree like the case of Revelation) so if anything Journey puts itself at a DISadvantage out o fthe chute gambling by agreeing to the Walmart only deal but both parties were willing and it worked out with only ONE retailer selling the album, rendering the sales success even more impressive.

You fucking bastard, waiting til I leave for a night's work to slip in some snake oil post on me eh you cocksucker? I get you are in love with Journey, and probably would make love to either jon Cain or Neal Schon, but let's call it the way it really is; Your math is fuzzy. Can you imagine if every band pulled this latest bozo move by throwing in another disc to achieve some level of status? My God, it would cheapen music ten fold. That's exactly what Journey has done and continues to do; they cheapened themselves and their legacy with this rerecord bullshit and people laugh at them. They cheapen music in general, specifically rock n roll by lip syncing. So we have the fans laughing at how cheesy they are and we have other artist smirking about them behind their backs. You don't think other artists are laughing at these tools? Ask Sammy Hagar. Ask Brian May. Ask any respectable rock star/band about Journey. They will say they are very talented but they would be embarrassed to be linked to them. Steve Perry got out in time. He isn't associated with the downhill spiral these assclowns have decided to take. They weren't content on working hard, and being true to rock n roll or their fans- they went the cheap, fast and shallow route. Lipping live shows, ripping off fans, and getting caught. Second chance..Oops, fucked that up by stabbing saviour singer in back. Replace him with youtube antics, turns out to be good singer, but cheapens brand and legacy by having him sing retreads. God, this is a band I want to be a fan of.![]()
Gotta tell ya Red13, was at Springsteen's shows last week and a couple fans and i were talking about the landscape of rock n roll. A number of bands came up but when someone mentioned journey, everyone laughed out loud. They aren't taken seriously by a good percentage of rock fans and certainly not by their peers.

Bryan Adams is damned near down where Journey are.
Rock acts who are carrying the flag nowadays are the usual suspects, bands that have respect: U2, E Street and AC/DC.
Now tell me asshole, why am I full of shit? Why? I would love to know.

Very true. If people can't deal with someone disagreeing with their opinion on something then why come on a message board and enter a discussion. Also ...if they can't debate their rationals to their opinions in manner to the points that are being discussed without having to resort to something like " no one cares what you think" then they shouldn't enter a discussion either. Bring an argument to the issue...if you can't then leave out comments that have nothing to do with whats being discussed and only serve to prove you can't come up with a good counter argument to points made.Rockindeano wrote:RobbieG wrote:

And everyone cares what you think about the band? Anyone cares how Red13 feels, or Andrew? Are we now at the stage here at MR, where there is no discussion allowed by a dissenting opinion? So true. If I mention Journey to anyone I know who love 70s and 80s rock, no matter the age, they don't own any Journey. They consider it light rock.
Think about Perry on ESPN with A.J. and he says 15 guys were at the bar and Journey was requested. Then he goes on that they won't admit they listen to Journey. What's that about? Journey wasn't cool enough, I guess. But that was rude with Steve right there as part of the interview and the voice of those songs.

Jana,
Journey was never "cool" but from 1977 to 1986 they were good enough that it didn't matter. My friends always made fun of me for being a fan and I had to hide my cd's and never wore t shirts etc. After awhile, I think, their legacy started to shine through in the ways of jukeboxs across this land in bars everywhere and commercials and movies, etc. They had a concrete legacy and I for one was proud to be a fan and thought they should definitely be in the HOF based on that body of work (77-86) alone. From there on out though, IMHO, the legacy doesn't even exist any longer, and well, I don't want to be negative so I will just end this now.

This seems to vary by region. In Michigan, during that time period, Journey was the soundtrack to the high school years. Some may call it cheesy, but every graduating class in my high school chose a Journey song as their class song, even though our overall tastes would be categorized as leaning towards hard rock/heavy metal.
Rockindeano wrote:A dissenting opinion is almost close to not allowed here any more and that is a very dangerous thing- it's approaching that never before thought of land of Back talk. Jana,
Journey was never "cool" but from 1977 to 1986 they were good enough that it didn't matter. My friends always made fun of me for being a fan and I had to hide my cd's and never wore t shirts etc. After awhile, I think, their legacy started to shine through in the ways of jukeboxs across this land in bars everywhere and commercials and movies, etc. Their classic pop songs were standing the test of time. People were respecting that. They had a concrete legacy and I for one was proud to be a fan and thought they should definitely be in the HOF based on that body of work (77-86) alone. From there on out though, IMHO, the legacy doesn't even exist any longer, with lip syncing, half assed efforts, and rerecords, and well, and well, I don't want to be negative so I will just end this now.
Don't worry too much about being negative Deano - your posts counterbalance SJ's anti-Perry rants, so it evens out. You're missed around here!
If this place didn't have any negativity, we might as well all close up shop and head on over to the other Journey sites, so we can paint rainbows and ride ponies with the rest of them.

Never have gotten any respect though.....
So true. If I mention Journey to anyone I know who love 70s and 80s rock, no matter the age, they don't own any Journey. They consider it light rock.
Think about Perry on ESPN with A.J. discussing how DSB became their song, and he says 15 guys were at the bar and Journey was requested. Then he goes on that they won't admit they listen to Journey. What's that about? Journey wasn't cool enough, I guess. But that was rude with Steve right there as part of the interview and the voice of those songs.

This seems to vary by region. In Michigan, during that time period, Journey was the soundtrack to the high school years. Some may call it cheesy, but every graduating class in my high school chose a Journey song as their class song, even though our overall tastes would be categorized as leaning towards hard rock/heavy metal.
That's cuz the guys were too cool to vote in the election for class song ...
but you know they still thought Neal was cool
Everybody was okay with Neal, it was the chick sing those sappy ballads that did the band in.

What's wrong with a little pony ride once in a while?
