I think just about anyone who's been in the biz or who is in the biz has management.

He will always have some type of personal manager I would think. He does do stuff on the side probably that requires coordination. Us not knowing about half the stuff he does shows how good his manager really is.

Very true. Someone's usually working behind the scenes in some fashion.

I'm looking forward to the official announcement. Seems to me that there may have been plans for a small, intimate show to perhaps 'test the waters'. It would make sense to me for SP to not want this to be a huge event, and by shooting his perverbial wad a little too soon, the promoter blew it for us all!!! The idea of him going to Hawaii as a paid performer doesn't seem likely to me. I can see it more as a 'planned' impromptu event. It would certainly be much easier to control on a small island thousands of miles away from some of us loons... (would explain the ticket prices too) Just my totally uneducated idea. :)

Andrew, please give us more concrete info when it becomes available.

Perry's statement over at The Nut Hut seems to indicate there was never a show planned.

I think the official announcement was the one on Steve's Fan Asylum page, DP. It would make sense if there was a private event already scheduled that something smaller be put together without much fanfare, but as most have already said, sounds like the promoter couldn't keep it together.

Is it just me or isn't it a bit funny how a place called "Fan Asylum" runs Steve's announcements?

Really?? MILLIONS??!! I'm assuming the only residuals he received from Revelation were from the retreads.

There are people who are privy to every penny of every band member's (past and present) bank accounts. I mean, we get this information from those who have it, right?

Jeremey receives royalties from Revelation also. He probably has a good under standing of how much is getting paid out.
As far as past amounts, Neal and Herbie both have said repeatedly that Perry has more money than God, and Neal just last year was bitching about Perry "still getting paid like a motherfucker".

There is even a good chance that being a songwriting contributor himself on Revelation, Perry received a Platinum award plaque like Jeremey got. (I doubt it though)

Anyhow, the next album should mark the first time since 1977 that Perry doesn't receive some kind of Residual from the band other than the normal royalties that he is entitled to regardless.

No, I don't mean from the physical sales of the album....He probably made about $175,000 from the publishing of the rerecords. I don't know what deal they may have struck with regard to the licensing of the music on the DVD, but that's probably where he made his money - Because they needed his PERMISSION to release that DVD and Perry wouldn't have given that up easily unless there was money to be made elsewhere. But I'm guessing that he knew that the rerecords and the Revelation disc in general would support catalog sales of the older Journey material as well as keep interest high in licensing for Journey catalog material such as the Yes Man and Bedtime Story and Monsters Vs Aliens and Glee Club, etc etc....So really, I'm pretty secure in saying that there really could have been millions generated from the release of that record.

I don't quite follow that part. What abut the Arrival DVD or the upcoming Manila DVD?

Edited: Never mind. I just brushed up on my copyright law and see that in some cases the band and Perry are more then likely connected for life.
