Seeing how May and Schon are such good chums, maybe they could work something out, sort of like a timeshare.

Because heterosexuals are immune to HIV and AIDS, right?
It is sad that he had to die like that, and so in that respect it is tragic. Regardless of your or anyone's core values.

Freddie got aids in like 84/85. It was only in the late 80s or early 90s that it was let out that he had it. I highly doubt that at that early time, he thought that he could get it and not sure if anyone knew how to prevent it at that time. So I don't think it was like a drug addict that knows what he's doing has consequences. Could be wrong...

How bout that Journey band huh? Wow, those guys is good... ;)

It can take at least 10 years to die from AIDS, which means it was contracted LONG before people were even talking about that virus. I am very familiar with HIV and it's history, so don't even try. He did not set out to get HIV. No one does and you are so shallow to even see it that way.

Yes, but it became bigger news when celebrities contracted it or died from it. When it came out Freddie died from it, that was huge news and made people more aware. Just as Magic Johnson did that in the heterosexual world. It opened people's eyes is what I am saying. And look at Magic Johnson still alive! Do you know why?? Because he was lucky enough, if you want to call it that, to find out at a time when they had better medications and he has the money to pay for the best drugs. If Freddie had contracted it later, I bet he could possibly even still be alive today.

I don't think anyone intentionally tries to get AIDS or any disease for that matter. However, and this is my point, his lifestyle (intended or not) is why he got AIDS. Therefore, he did it to himself.

It was tragic. It would have been tragic if heterosexuals began suffering from AIDS and dying at an alarming rate just from having sex.

I can just see it, Tito. Not only will you probably have a gay son, but he is going to be a flamer, very flamboyant, not a GQ gay like my good friend. Karma's a bitch.

Hmm, and I bet you don't know anyone who has casual sex with different people from time to time? Would it not be tragic if that happened to a young friend of yours? The only lifestyle you need for HIV is promiscuity, which is pretty damned common in todays world :P

I know plenty of people who have casual sex (including swingers) and with the exception of an occasional cold soar, no problems.

No, but is that where he got it from?

No, but the point is that it can happen to anyone, I mean today you have tests and the smarter/safer approach to physical relationships so most of us are smart enough to take preventative measures and avoid contracting it. But all it takes is trusting someone a little too much or (since the symptoms sometimes don't surface for 10 years) being totally oblivious by accident. Back in his day, people weren't so aware of it as they are today. Could he have been more careful? Probably. Who knows. But this stigma that AIDS is the "gay disease" is backwater rubbish, and anyone of any intelligence knows that.

If you drink after someone with mono who doesn't know they have it yet, and you get it too, did you bring it on yourself? No. Could you have been safer and not drank after anyone at all, yeah. But, oh well. That's life. We're just humans who don't always think.

There were rumors of a deadly "gay" disease going back to the 70s. I remember they think it originated here with a male flight attendant; I don't remember his name but I remember what he looked like--blonde, handsome; he was very promiscuous. I don't remember what country he was from.

I thought it was because of missionaries taking vaccines to Africa? Since primate DNA is so close to our own, scientists made a vaccine (for smallpox, malaria... whatever the hell it was) which was carted over by missionaries in the early-mid 20th century. Unknowingly giving them HIV, and the shady missionaries who were banging the tribespeople brought it back to America. Or something. Then there's the whole government conspiracy bullshit, too.
