Paul Stanley is a legend and can sing fucking circles around Eric Martin. Perhaps if you met him he would "emote" better and have more "soul."

Stanley is a showman...not a killer singer. Eric Martin has a much stronger and more soulful vocal.

I'd probably put Steve Perry at the top voice wise.

Glad to see Steve Marriot was mentioned 'cause he's an old favorite of mine. 8)

Keyboard handstands aside, Steve Walsh is DEFINITELY in the top 5....there can be NO argument here. And I'm talking 70s. Cause anyone who knows Kansas knows his voice is shot to hell....

lol...the same old terms ("soulful" and "emote") for singers that can't even sell out the local taverns. Paul Stanley has a fucking army of fans and Eric Martin has....you and Deb. How come, just like with Soto, no one else hears this "soul" and "emoting?" Why can't these great "soulful emoters" even fill up a bar? *I* know why...because the two of you drag out these intangible terms to compensate for the fact that no one else is interested in these guys domestically. I'm not saying they're not talented, but you guys waaaaay overestimate their abilities, and their inability to fill up even a tiny venue is pretty much proof of that. Success, as far as hits and the ability to draw a crowd, is not the sole indicator of talent, but it does have something to do with it.

Really like Dio, especialy his work in Rainbow. Just can't place him above these guys for frequent listening. For rockin' out, definitely.

And you know what is freaky-deaky about Dio and Perry? Both have that head on the shoulder held note singing thing.....I think this proves that RJD is at least as good as Perry.

So the fact that the likes of Jimi Jamison, Rik Emmett, Lou Gramm (just to name a few of your faves, 2 of which have played little casinos here recently) aren't selling out arena's anymore makes them any less talented? Domestically, it's our loss. Mr Big is starting a sold-out Japan tour in June. A lot of these 80s and 90s rockers are selling VERY well overseas, ya know...........to people who still love to rock! Dan, if you are basing your music choices on numbers and superstar status, then I feel for ya, cuz you are missing out on some stellar music there my friend.

Anybody got the comple 50 list?

Did Phil Lynott make it?

If not, he should've or that list is bogus.

Also, Rod Stewart above Perry kinda nixes it too.

Those singers all have hits and back catalogs to play. Eric Martin has To Be With You and Soto has ??? And I'm not gonna apologize because I happen to like singers that sold very well. That just tells me that a lot of people heard the same greatness that I did! Conversely, no one seems to hear what *you* hear (with the exception of To Be With You). Enjoy your music, Deb, but understand that no one is interested in the music you like because they simply don't hear what you do. "Soul" and "emoting" can only be a worthwhile argument if there is some sort of success behind it. These guys are in the business to sell albums and/or sing to crowds (of worthwhile size).

Ignorance is bliss. Stanley made have sold more records/CDs than God, but that doesn't make him the best vocalist in the world.

And for the record - Eric Martin is FAR bigger than Stanley in Japan, so there goes part of your crap theory.

Kiss were the biggest band in the world in the 70s...not just Japan. But EM wasn't even around then, so your point seems a little lost.
