Brywool - yep those notes bugged me, 'cause in my head they sounded shrill and not nice. But as no one else has picked up on it, I guess it's just me being paranoid. We use high quality backing tracks for the jazz show piano, bass and drums] and Andy plays live sax, percussion and blues harmonica over them while I sing live,
but for the dancy crap which we only do because we have to in order to get the work, we use a mix of midi and others, whatever we can get. The Dreams track isn't of the best quality, I know. But in this climate we just aren't earning the money from gigs to justify having every track made to our spec like the jazz ones were.
Rick - I think I tend to jazz up everything I do, that jazz is in my blood.
MBPL - thanks for the comments. Check out the myspace for more songs. If my singing brings you as much pleasure as all your hilarious posts have brought me, then I'm happy.
Ginger - thanks for your comments, too, now do that homework and go for it, girl.
And if you go to the myspace adresses you will hear more songs, too. They should just play without you having to do anything technical.
GI Jim - ha haaaaaa, you got spelling lessons from stevew2. This thread was worth starting just for that!!!!Have yu finished that wall?
stevew2 - don't EVER change!
Gunbot - I'm so glad you liked it. This track was bought, learned and performed with you in mind. BUt Johnny Mathis? Really??

That was great, SusieP! There are a couple times where it sounds a little sharp on "when" in this line..."players only love you when their playing"... but maybe its because I'm listening on headphones and it stands out a little bit due to the lower softness during the rest of the song.Overall very well done! You have a fantastic voice and you sound sultry here, which I'm sure you've been told before and know thats a good thing.

I'll work on that, thanks.
We played it at last night's gig. Opened the show with it and it seemed to be well received. So the more I sing it, the better I will get.
I know my lower tone is my best area, but if I sang EVERYTHING low it would be boring for me and the audience - but I hear that shrill sound in my head and I don't like it! But non of us are perfect.

Aww thanks Gordon - I know you are a huge Stevie Nicks fan, so that's praise indeed.
A talent show??? Are you serious?
Those judges would buzz me after one second. All they want are girl singers who look like Beyonce and sing like Mariah Carey.
Any over 40 and not conventionally beautiful and over a size 6...........forget it.
Although the world do seem to have taken to Susan Boyle, but I think she is a one-off.
If you look at the Myspace links I've put in my sig, on the www.myspace.com/susiepjazzsinger one there is a version of Bonnie Raitt's "I Can't Make You Love Me" and Tracey Chapman's " Baby Can I Hold You Tonight" - also my version of the Journey song everyone hates............."Open Arms" plus a few jazzy type ones.
I'd love to know what you think.

Do you have a little flute or tin whistle that you can play, like Andrea?

Simon is now admitting that she wasn't handled properly. Very rare acknowledgement of him actually making a mistake.

I don't think he is a bad guy, I just think his musical knowledge is questionable.
All this talk of the pressure Susan is under, lets look at it another way...........
All Susan has to do is rest in her Hotel room, get herself showered and dressed, get into a car, go to the Theatre, soundcheck TWO songs, have her hair and make up done, then sing two songs to standing ovations and be taken back to her Hotel.
She doesn't have to drive herself to the gig, do her own lights, sound mixing and perform for a couple of hours then get herself back home in the early hours of the morning. NO worries about cables going down, or light bulbs blowing or speakers blowing etc.
All her expenses are paid - so, the question is, if she cannot handle what she has to do, then maybe Simon and his team HAVE made a big mistake in shoving her into the limelight.............. BUT, what could they do? She is a 48 year old woman, an adult, responsible enough to live on her own without carers and she entered the show. She has seen other entrants in the past get Press coverage, so she must have had a tiny hint that she might get featured in the newspapers.
But I don't think she or Simon & his team could have known that she would become a global superstar overnight.
So,
short of giving everyone who enters a psych test, I don't see how he could have handled it any different , really.
I think she needs some medical help though and soon. She obviously can't cope.

You never know. Look at Savage Garden. Their career just gets started, they're on top of the world and Daniel Jones just quits because he can't handle being famous, leaving Darren Hayes screwed.
