They invoke the think tank funded revisionist myth of Reagan.
The real Reagan was bi-partisan, anti-nuke, a huge tax raiser, and talked with our enemies against the protests of hardliners on his own team.

Because it was designed to advertise only one point of view on something, effectively attempting to sell his plan for nationalized health care. Why didn't they allow an alternate point of view either during or immediately following? That in itself was very telling...

You're a smart guy. You know exactly what it was.

Ever notice how much he stammers when he's not reading from his teleprompter? It's remarkable. I actually kinda feel sorry for the dude. Kinda.

Oh i forgot.
When a Republican President does it it's called a "Fox News Exclusive."
What I saw was the President taking questions (allegedly unscreened) from a diverse audience.
If Bush courted one of the big 3 (abc, nbc, cbs) while his approval ratings were high, he would've been granted the same primetime privilege.
In fact, what was TV news in the run-up to Iraq, if not wall-to-wall Bush infomercials?

Wait a minute now....
You guys are against all those meddlesome FCC equal time and fairness doctrine regulations.
Can't have it both ways.

Donna, you are watching a guy who is thinking, thinking to himself, as to what he is saying. The last eight years you saw a guy who didn't know what the fuck he was saying. And oh yeah by the way, you have the gall to bash Obama on his speaking and his leaning on the teleprompter, what the hell you make of this?--

I feel really sorry for this guy, who will go down as one of the worst presidents in history.

Whatever, dude. This whole thing reeks. I hope it doesn't pass as BO is touting it. I DO hope some kind of reform is on the way though.

Oh... I'm sure he is. Wondering what the heck he's gonna say next. My point is simply that he's not the smooth talker when put on the spot that he appears when he's reading the prompter. It's a stark contrast.

As for Bush, I have no idea what the heck he had under his clothes. He was the sitting president at the time, maybe it was something to communicate with the SS. I have no earthly idea. I can't imagine the debate officials knowingly allowing him extra 'help', but who really knows. Maybe he took pointers from Journey...

I will absolutely say Obama has leaned on the teleprompter so much, too much in fact, it has become a bad thing. He needs to ditch that sonofabitch. He should start watching Bill Clinton speak. There has never been a better speaker than WJC.

However, no donna, Bushie wasn't hardwired up to the SS...come on now, you are smarter than that. He is a fucking dufus. The guy couldn't get into the University of Texas, but somehow got himself enrolled at Yale. Naw, that wasn't set up by daddy now was it?

I can't believe you guys haven't jumped on the Mark Sanford situation. What an inconsiderate jerk!!! He should step down, not because he was unfaithful to his wife (what kind of husband and father takes off and leaves his family - 4 kids! - on Father's Day?), but because he left his state in limbo while he went and partied with his bimbo... :x

Jump on him? Just another GOP scandal. too many to count. His emails leaked out and that was embarrassing to watch Olberman read them on the air. Ouch. At least he was banging a hot long legged tan Argentina chick.

I agree about the teleprompter. When he actually has to 'wing it', he looks unprepared and unsure of himself at times. He should work on becoming less reliant on it. Bill could sell ice to an eskimo, he's so smooth. Got him in other kinds of trouble, though, wouldn't you say?

As for W getting 'set up' by daddy... you could very well be right. Don't tell me that if given the same opportunities in life, you wouldn't have done the same. You know you would. He never (nor did I) claimed to the be sharpest tool in the box. However, he has a genuineness that BO lacks, IMO.

Yeah, and two years into Bush's first term, people were STILL blaming Clinton for a economic issues that Bush never did fix.

The simple fact is that Bush and the Republicans CREATED the deep deficit we are now in.

Wrong. Bush, Congress (all of them Rs and Ds), bureaucrats, greedy wall streeters and more are to blame. Blaming one guy is silly.

The Republicans were the party in power for most of the past two presidential terms, and Bush was the guy on top who should take the responsibility for what happened under HIS watch.

Oh absolutely I would. Getting into Yale instead of Austin, getting war time deferments, getting out of physicals to keep him out of the war, all that shit..yeah, i would also take advantage of it. Doesn't take away the guy is extremely stupid and even more ridiculously corrupt. Enjoy Hell asshole.

This was apparent even before the media baited him into the primaries.
Yes, Obama is a flannel mouth.
Like the hype surrounding so many of the candidates (including the so-called invincibility of Fred Thompson's candidacy) O's great orator reputation is based on media spin.

Yep, Spitzer is a piece of shit. I should have said, cheating and unfaithfulness doesn't bother me in the least. Spitzer, Ensign, and now Sanford- no big deal. Sanford bothered a bit more because he abandoned his state. What if a hurricane was bearing down on it?

Blago on the other hand bothered me because what he did was extraordinarily bad. I don't care what party he hails from, wrong is wrong. it just so happens that the GOP has been much worse lately than the Dems.

Did Sanford go back and forth to Buenos Aires on tax payer dollars? If not, I don't give a hoot what he did/done--that's between him and and his wife. If so, he should be fined and fired from being Governor and for being a dick.

GNP is up 1+%. This is huge. I am so thankful Obama is in charge.

Here's an interesting guessing game: A "leader" in the Bush administration leaked 55 documents to the 911 families re: Saudi Arabia's involvement in Al Quida and the Taliban and God knows who else. Who do you think it was? I'll make a guess: Robert Gates. Who do you all think?

P.S. What IS that thing on GB's back?!?

Well, I can't say that cheating doesn't bother me, but it shouldn't be a reason to be fired from your job. But leaving without notifying anyone and turning over power, that should be the nail in his coffin.

Blago is a weirdo. I mean, wanting to go on Celebrity Get Me out of Here, or whatever that show was called.

Re the governor, he just might be fired if he took trips at taxpayer expense coupled with disappearing without care to his state.

Though, I read the emails between him and his lover, and you could tell he was deeply in love or very smitten and conflicted. The emails weren't lurid, but very intimate in the emotion between them. The emails were kind of sad because they express that they know they can't be together permanently and yet have discovered all these feelings, and also because here they are feeling this way and his poor wife has no clue, and then to know she will read these and see that her husband is capable of pouring out emotions she probably hasn't seen or heard in a long time, all the while supporting him in his ambitions and the horrible betrayal she must feel. I feel for everybody in this situation only because you're exposed to the public instead of privately dealing with this. People are only human and flawed, and you can be judgmental and holier than thou like he was in his safe little life, all planned out, and then when you are tempted with wild attraction and what you feel is a deep connection, funny how all your morals fly out the window about committment forever and ever, etc.

I don't believe this man is a typical philanderer politician, just getting some on the side. I believe he fell deeply in love, and probably loves his wife, but isn't in love with her and hasn't been for a while. The problem is once you open Pandora's box and experience those feelings you rarely can take them back. His wife found out and instead of staying in town and fighting for his marriage, he left to go see the other woman. That speaks volumes right there. But this man had great political aspirations and now those may be over plus the pain he's caused his sons. If he isn't in love with his wife, she deserves to know and be able to move on and find happiness and not just be his family values spouse for his climb up the political ladder.

He is one of the governors who turned back the stimulus money from the federal govenment. That is why if he used tp's money to fly to Buenos Aires, he should be fined and fired. I have a feeling he used tp $$. If he did, he is a creep of the lowest order. A creep and a fucking hypocrite. I guess I'll have to wait and see because they are looking into it right now.

He's simply another lying repugnican who wants to dictate to others how to live and then turn around and do as he pleases, with tax payer money.

If he hadn't been so self righteous about Clinton, people might not be calling for his head, but you know those that scream the loudest usually have the most to hide.

A couple of quick points (maybe to discuss in more detail Monday):

1. Sadly, Sanford should resign. This disappoints me because he was my guy.
2. The whole what if an emergency had happen thing is so overblown. If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. Nothing happened and there are procedures in place anyway. No one got hurt and no one die (government is overrated anyway). Plus, don't buy the story no one knew where he was. Remember the reporter who met him at the airport off his plane had a "tip" he would be there. For her to receive a tip meant somebody(ies) knew where he was. Which goes to the point of how stupid he is too on a few fronts. He's stupid for what he did but he also got set up (in getting caught). I point the finger at the Lt. Gov. and State Sen. Jake Knotts who started this whole thing.
