That's what happens when you are honest around here, as you can see, I've already got PM's about from other members saying be careful what you say around here because you can't speak your mind without being shot down.

Jackass? that's very interesting, those are my thoughts on the current state of Journey, I am hardly a jackass, I am actually a pretty nice guy and will do anything for people, and friends. We are discussing music here, and the band members, that's what fans do - like and dislike, I just happen to dislike Arnel's stage ability's, But he's a great singer, just yells too much though.

Whine, whine, whine from a certain peanut gallery. Please, everybody speaks their mind. But some don't like the responses they get and play martyr. I've been on here almost a year. I try to be respectful of everybody's favorite, but I speak my mind, for the most part, and I've been taken down plenty of times in the poliical thread, or re Neal, re Arnel, re Journey, re everything. I don't play the martyr. If you can't take the comments, why post? I don't whine about it. I don't expect everybody to agree with me on this perry/sa/jss/ap/neal hating/neal loving/journey hating/journey loving forum, and if I did, I shouldn't be here.

Yes, I see - I guess your opinion may change after a few years Jana... give it a couple more months, years posting here :) But yes, I agree with you Jana.

MR is much better than most other places, probably the best forum around for discussing Journey. I can't the say the same for "the other forum", but this one is pretty good. Yes, I know what you saying, but something I do not do around here, and it's something I learned in real life and I practice here.

If somebody doesn't like something about a band or a movie or whatever? you know "who am I to say otherwise", like that's their opinion, let it be there's. It should be said once, and heard, then not discussed (of course we all do it) it's very hard not too. When a MR members says "hey Steve Perry sounded awful then, or looked silly then" I just sure, he probably did, and move on.

This discussion should of never gone this long, it's been dead for days in my honest opinion, I said my originally piece, I should of just left it there. Next time I will know better, not to come back, and wait for people to sit there and dissect my posts and call me on spelling errors, and insult me personally.

Thanks.

Vladen, you made a very provocative statement: Check out this one-minute clip, turn off the volume, what a shitty frontman (paraphrasing) And you don't expect a reaction out of that? Come on. If you had made a statement that as a frontman Arnel doesn't do it for you since he's been with them, fine. But you can't tell me you expected no reaction from what you said, which I think was pretty unfair myself. And, truthfully, I didn't think the replies you got back were bad. You made a remark regarding Arnel and mentioned language in there and you got dissed back re language. That's MR. Zingers, sarcastic, humor. Nobody called you names.

And maybe you move on if somebody said Steve Perry sounded awful, but you're one of the few that would. There would be a big brouhaha going on, and has gone on before. If a thread was started, and someone said ,isolate this one part of the video for one minute of Perry, and turn down the sound. Isn't he a crappy frontman? Holy Hell would break loose on here. And I wouldn't fault anyone from coming into that thread calling the person out on that remark.

I must be sadomasochistic, but if I make provocative statements regarding a hot button issue and get replies back against what I said, nicely or not nicely, I accept it or debate back, but I don't whine. Though, I have been known to take my toys and go home for a while.

This is the problem. You sauntered into this thread making observations about Arnel's showmanship relative to the two Steves and Jeff Scott Soto. That's fine, though I disagree with your conclusions. Where you fucked up (and you did so quite elaborately) is when you came back to this thread and said shit like this:

These are the problems. Who the hell are you to say that "lulz it's a proovin fakt!" that they should have never continued without Perry? And now, predictably, you were crushed and you changed your tenor all together.

Make up your mind. I'm not certain if your girlfriend hopped on your account or if you're heavily medicated and just looking for the right dosage, but the fact of the matter is you tried to make a subjective argument and declare it fact without elaboration or evidence. That is bullshit.

Suffice it to say: you're wrong, you made yourself look like a jackass, and that is why everyone was laying into you.

Your turn Vlad.

You know, I laughed. And what for? it's just going to cause problems for Andrew. I had a huge post ready to go, but in the respect of the forum owner, I will not. It's not fair on Andrew, that's the simple truth. Though he hasn't said anything yet, but it's best he doesn't.

Thanks to all that replied, if you want to argue. I have facebook, email, msn, or pm.

MSN and Facebook and the like are easier than doing it here; quicker, easier, uninterrupted dialogue where you can communicate more efficiently.

I'll be happy to point out where Vladan went wrong.

Well, I've made many "mistakes" in life. It just tends to happen when your living, taking chances. Is it always about being wrong or right, or is it just a result. It's healthy to make mistakes, or be wrong, it's very human I think.

People know when they went wrong, we can't fool ourselves now. You can keep a poker face for only so long before your stomach tells you otherwise. Unless you have no feelings of course.

So go watch the complete Belgium gig, then come back and tell us you are neither deaf nor blind. If you turn down the sound and and only watch 1 minute, I will be disappointed. :o :D

Yep, seen it mate. It's very good of course compared to what is out today, but I can't get into it with full appreciation, because... in my opinion Journey's best years are decades behind. Arnel is a hell of a talent and really good attitude. A clown on stage, most definitely, is what I see with the music turned on, a Steve Perry wanna-be. They all were, and always be Steve Perry clones IMO. I am still a fan of the current lineup, yes certainly, because there isn't anything else but old DVD's and CD's.

Well I tried to explain it, in the nicest possible way :) you have to be careful what you tell kids these days, they are fragile, one minute they are taking on the world, then the next minute they are hanging from a rope. Don't laugh about it, I've got mates that didn't make it.

I'm late for the party, as usual  My thoughts from some of the comments made in this thread:

We all have or seen the videos ... I agree, prior to ESCAPE, there were some "goofy" stage moves by SP -- but he commanded the stage from Frontiers on. By the time he did FTLOSM ... age and smaller stage ... toned down his movement considerably, but he still had that audience at the edge of their seats through sheer charisma. As to the comment he looked gay and feminine in the early years ... those clothes he had on from 78-80 ... coupled with long straight hair and high singing voice ... not my favorite SP era, appearance-wise, I admit.

SA never pulled lame antics? What about that stomache flop on the Whale while JC was playing in the middle of a song (2001 Arrival dvd) ... was it DSB? Haven't taken that one out to watch again in ages.

I had to let out a laugh when someone mentioned that Neal said he's writing with Arnel on the road -- so we should expect some collaborative efforts on the next album. Didn't he say the same thing back in '06-'07 with JSS on the road? Funny what came out of that

Augeri had a very good stage presence. When i saw him in2002, he was climbing up speakers and running around Deens drums. That changed later and the band members couldnt even look at each other. It all about chemistry, which can and does change

Well, Arnel is still with the band and they have until early next year to prove that a collaboration indeed took place when they come up with their second album with AP. I am really curious to find out what AP can offer - songwriting wise. I don't think he can write a much more cheesier song than "What it takes to win". Or can he?

I think TDTWT is the best song on Rev. Does JC have sole writing credit on that? Someone said it doesn't transfer well live, so I guess they're not going to play it much.

Haha, Hey Andrew yeah thanks for stepping in here. So I will apologize to everyone here firstly, my initial post was somewhat over the top. I really shouldn't of said what I did, I didn't intend to get into a debate, I wish I hadn't, basicially I had the day off work, too much time on my hand and yeah... :) sorry mate, it won't happen again, cheers.
