This is awful. Jeff has always been a positive force on this site and he and his fellow bandmates need everyone's support and prayers right now. Please read:

This is indeed extremely sad and seems totally unexpected. My heart goes out to his family and friends especially Jeff.

I think it's time to put on some Talisman and watch the DVD.

Its been few hours since I recieved the sad news and I am still in shock. At the same time that Im waiting for this to sink in, I still hope and pray that I wake up from this nightmare,,, Last I talked to him couple months ago, he seemed to be in such good spirit and excited about the new Talisman stuff.

As hard as it is to accept this, I know he is in a better place for sure. Meanwhile I try to think of all the good memories. I specifically remember sitting with him at a table in a club in Eskilstuna Sweden, before a Talisman show back in 1990. while we're chatting and having a coke (I was 17 ), he was jotting down some stuff and in middle of the conversation he goes "Do you remember the next part of this song?" , showing me parts of "Eternal Flame" by Norum, and both our minds went blank. So he chuckles and said " what kind of friend & fan are you?" and I responded "well its not a Talisman song , duh, Its just Norum, YOUR idol! " , he was ready to choke me  .....

May he rest in peace,,, he will be missed by many....

Been thinking about this all morning as it hits close to home.
Not something that is easy to deal with.
I still can't fathom & always leaves more questions than answers but his pain must have been very deep
that not even the light of his beloved Talisman on the horizon could not take him from what must have been a deepest darkness that he could not find a way out or a will to live.

So sad to leave family & friends behind with a deeper loss than can be imagined for yes there are no waking up from this nightmare.
No leave it til tomorrow & things will look brighter in the light of a brand new day.
I only hope he explored all the possibilities & his loved ones & the music community can understand that his plight was more that he could bear.
We all have to leave one way or another & it;s never easy when a loved one passes on but to leave in this manner leaves a deep hole.

Just glad he is no longer in what must have been an unbearable pain that he had to endure in this life & hopefully his spirit is still strong now that he has left the pains of his mind & body that he could not endure anymore.
He is free of his pain & I'm sure he asks forgiveness of all those who he has touched.
Let us remember him for that gentle sweet loving spirit that you could see radiate from him & now he is free again from the prison of pain that had taken hold of his body & mind.
It really is no different than dying from abusing drugs or from a poorly orchestrated life.
No different than stuffing your face with copious amounts of fatty animal products & having a heart attack or sitting on the couch downing a beer after beer with the only exercise of pushing buttons on a remote.

We all are responsible for our lives & how we take care of ourselves or choose not to take care of ourselves yet suicide has that forbidden stigma!

I only hope all that he has left try to understand & forgive & mourn the passing of a sweet gentle man who was given more poain in this life than he could endure.

Going to listen to some Talisman & enjoy all of the deep notes that this man has graced our world with & sending Jeff a special hug to help him along in this time of deep sorrow.

This is HORRIBLE.

One of my favorite bass players of all time, a huge influence, and one of the most underrated musicians in the industry.

I'm flattened by this news.

R.I.P Marcel... prayers go out to everyone.

So, so much tragedy these days. I think history will prove this era we're in now to be a dark one... so, so much bad shit going on every day. This is just another tragedy in a long line, and I'm not just talking deaths, either.

Happens often with suicide. I have never personally had to deal with it, thankfully, but when Brad Delp killed himself I was really torn about it. From the terminally ill/suffering perspective, one part of me says "If it were me, I'd understand that I'd be hurting my friends and loved ones even more if I ended it early, so I would just bide my time and take what time nature left me." That part of me thinks it's 100% wrong to take your own life.

The other part of me never wants to find out what it's like to be in excruciating pain from a terminal, debilitating illness every waking moment and knows that if I ever did have to deal with it, I can't be sure how I'd handle it.

"Let children walk with Nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life."
