I challenge anybody to find fault with Journey's choice to add these two gems into the set, and then blending them together like they did. That's not playing it safe. Plus, I think I saw that Feelin' That Way / Anytime, Higher Place and Keep On Runnin' were also played, along with the three from Revelation they've been playing. I know it's expected for them to branch out in longer sets like they played at the Borgata last night...but this was unexpected.
For some reason, I feel the setlist last night and tonight will be the exception, rather than the rule.
Deen sang four songs. I don't see that occurring too often. With Night Ranger coming up, I would be surprised if they continue doing 20+ songs on a regular basis.
If they were going to keep the Patiently/WCTNGOF mashup in the setlist permanently, I would expect OA to finally be dumped. I don't think that will happen. They had a TON of filipinos from the New York/New Jersey community there last night and probably will again tonight. Being AP's birthday weekend, I think this was a special setlist and won't be the norm, at least beyond the smaller casino setting.
HOWEVER
If they are going to keep that mxed song in the setlist, it will need a lot of work. Once you get past the euphoria, you can see that most of the power notes were dumped and the timing was toast on the second verse of WCTNGOF.
Major practice time is required to take that song from a soundcheck piece, which it sounded like, to a setlist standard.
Now my question is, When are they going to play WIN and TDTWT? The tour is almost finished, they included the songs on the live DVD, when are they going to get some play here in the states?
