Nice to hear this being done live but why the hell can't Rolie come in and guest on this tune sometime?

This is still my favorite Journey combo, AP & JC are doing a great job with it, But I too would love to see Rolie live just one time on this. 8) 8) 8)

That would be the shit. :D

i could not disagree more! feeling that way/anytime is my absolute favorite and is it the velvet voice of rolie combined with the sweet soul of perry that makes it!

but of course, you have your own preference and are absolutely entitled.

I'm impressed. I guess Arnel is much more comfortable with "Patiently" than he is with WCTNGOF, although both songs are pretty tough to deliver.
Maybe if they keep WCTNGOF in the setlist for longer, he'll feel it better. "Patiently" was great.

Arnel is absolutely incredible! Thanks to Journey for throwing Patiently back into the setlist. There are very few singers that can do that song justice and Arnel is one of them. Soaring, beautiful, and powerful.

Exactly! Although they sounded pretty good on that and it's great to see them pull that oldie out LIVE. :) But the unique vocal contrast of Rollie and Perry makes the original so great. Same with a few other favorites like Just The Same Way and Someday Soon.......love their unique contrast on those too.

Right now Perry is not publically doing anything except going to baseball games. What he may be doing behind the scenes none of us know firsthand & so right now, there is no need to have a separate Perry forum. It's only purpose seems to be to provide an outlet for those who are not in favor of the current Journey line-up so they can "loon away" without the fear of repercussions. Likewise, the non-loons who reside mostly in the Journey forum should be able to express their thoughts without being reminded that Perry Is God. I don't believe there is one person here who feels that Arnel sings better than Perry. Still, it is what it is & since you can't go home again, why torture yourself with thoughts of "What could have been"? When people post comments praising Arnel & the current Journey line-up I don't believe that's being done with malicious intent. No one is trying to take away from Perry the mountainous praise the man deserves.

When I go downstairs I try to be respectful of the comments being said regardless of whether or not I agree with them. A lesser person could have a field day making fun of what goes on downstairs, especially in regards to all the pictures being posted, anything Twitter, or that whole Perryville fiasco. But that's not me. I try to be sensitive to other's interests, feelings & needs b/c I am a guest in that home. Everything discussed downstairs means something to the people who are involved & so I try to be respectful as well as mindful of Andrew's wishes.

I challenge anybody to find fault with Journey's choice to add these two gems into the set, and then blending them together like they did. That's not playing it safe. Plus, I think I saw that Feelin' That Way / Anytime, Higher Place and Keep On Runnin' were also played, along with the three from Revelation they've been playing. I know it's expected for them to branch out in longer sets like they played at the Borgata last night...but this was unexpected.

For some reason, I feel the setlist last night and tonight will be the exception, rather than the rule.
Deen sang four songs. I don't see that occurring too often. With Night Ranger coming up, I would be surprised if they continue doing 20+ songs on a regular basis.

If they were going to keep the Patiently/WCTNGOF mashup in the setlist permanently, I would expect OA to finally be dumped. I don't think that will happen. They had a TON of filipinos from the New York/New Jersey community there last night and probably will again tonight. Being AP's birthday weekend, I think this was a special setlist and won't be the norm, at least beyond the smaller casino setting.
HOWEVER
If they are going to keep that mxed song in the setlist, it will need a lot of work. Once you get past the euphoria, you can see that most of the power notes were dumped and the timing was toast on the second verse of WCTNGOF.
Major practice time is required to take that song from a soundcheck piece, which it sounded like, to a setlist standard.

Now my question is, When are they going to play WIN and TDTWT? The tour is almost finished, they included the songs on the live DVD, when are they going to get some play here in the states?

Weren't the backing vocals too hard to pull off live for TDTWT? I suspect this is the main reason behind that tune's absence. They can fix the BG vox on the DVD...

It seemed like Deen over powered Arnel at the end of the song, not to mention, the concert goers started to leave in mass at that moment.
Still, that song was all the rage on Journey forums last year and one of the best songs on Revelation, IMO. AP even did an impromptu and abbreviated acapella snippet of the song at the Manila airport.
I'm just saying, three appearances in 120 shows seems kind of lame.
What would people prefer on a daily basis if they could have some changes in the setist?

Patiently/WCTNGOF (full versions)
TDTWT/WIN

Since Journey is SUPPOSEDLY going in a heavier direction, having all four songs in the setlist doesn't sound like an option.
Hmm, maybe a poll is in order.

I can't help but put my two cents to this freakin discussion. Arnel's accent is distracting but are you people tone deaf?, damn NASAL shit Perry was letting out in every high notes is all out annoying. Even I can live with Arnel's accent but that baby seal being clobbered shit is all out BAD! Not because I'm all for Arnel but I never heard these guys sing before so my comparison is fresh and untainted, trust me I'll pay the six grand I paid (w/ friends help) for a sky box to see Arnel with Journey over and over. I swore to be committed to the end!

$6000 for a sky seat? I'd have bought a $25 boot and taken a trip to the Carribean with the difference. Ain't no Journey or ANY concert worth that. What a loon!

Well, this was a great thread discussing the concert and the songs in the setlist with a lot of positives. Too bad, someone always has to try to find a negative in everything. And that goes both ways.

Welcome to MR. We need more like you here, it's getting boring when everyone is on one side.
