Speaking of Journey, I can't wait to hear the whole song of "Comes Down Like Rain." I can tell from the little snippet in the Trailer...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVvPtCdAfV8 ......that I'm going to love that one. It's got that soulful/emotive 'Still They Ride' grandiose-vocal type vibe that I totally dig.
Yup, that one and If I Fall both sound really good.
btw, totally unrelated, but you might want to check a guy named Johnny Adams on youtube. Very obscure New Orleans soul singer. Something tells me you'd flip over the vocals.
Good call! Just had a listen to this one of his http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEMmiPtXwLw and yep.....love that soulful R&B style of vocal. A little old-schoolish for me though, I like a little more of a modern flare to it, but it did remind me a little of this type style...... loooooove this live performance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvONkB05g0w
It sounds old-schoolish because it is. That's running about the same time as Sam Cooke, or just slightly after. After All the Love Is Gone is slightly better with a little more updated sound, IMO. He was active into the late 90s.
As far as Eric Martin goes, very good singer, but he'll never be one of my favorites because he always sounds like he's got the start of laryngitis-which just perpetually bugs me. No doubting his talent though.

LOL, saying all that.........I probably had one of the girlyest vocalists as my wedding song back in the 80s.
