Also, Greatest Hits is up to #9 on the Catalog albums chart. The first non-Michael Jackson or non-Beatles album on the chart. It's been on that chart for 832 weeks, which if my math is correct is exactly 16 years.
So much for the false theory that people are buying Revelation for the Greatest Hits (disc 2).

If Journey in 2009 is relevant to you, then it really doesn't matter what any "deniers/naysayers" are saying. That said, bragging about Journey being 86th on a chart and now in the top 150 on a music chart is like pounding your chest bragging that your football team finished in 30th place! Hell, Elvis probably has music in the top 150 and the fucker has been dead for 30 fucking years

Pay attention to the discussion. All I was doing this week and last week when I started this thread was just stating fact and bringing info to the class. I wasn't bragging about anything. All I said was Revelation recharted, nothing more and nothing less. As far as the denier comment, that was simply in regard to some people claiming Revelation sold only or mostly because of disc 2.
But, since you brought it up, I'll take the bait: Are they as relevant as they were in 1981 -no. Are they more relevant today as they've been in 20 years, I would say yes. A #1 DVD, #9 catalog album (with the likes of MJ and Beatles), most downloaded song in history (before you chime in, yes it's a 28 year old song but the point is its popularity then and now), and a recent appearance on Oprah (despite how much I hate that show) are recent evidence of that. Not to mention the two years of successful attendance figures and the Sopranos. Obviously, they aren't on the daily entertainment shows and they ain't Bon Jovi, but I wouldn't say no one isn't paying attention either. They're doing well, nothing more nothing less.

Still not so bad for a bunch of washed up, old fucks like Schon and Friga! Keep milking that Perry cow, baby!

Last time I checked, Perry gets royalties too. He had to sign off on Sopranos and he was the one singing DSB during the White Sox World Series run. If anything, it's Perry milking the Schon and Cain cow. Herbie said it best with his pimps and ho's analogy. They're at least working.

So I guess Perry doesn't fit into either one of these categories, right?
Gunbot wrote:Most Rockstars have two goals in life;

I believe Perry has achieved both of these. I just heard Wheel in the Sky on the radio 40 minutes ago. Classic Journey will continue to get played on the radio regardless if Perry or Journey is out there working or not. Why slave away on the road if you're already financially secure and can here yourself at least 6 times a day on the radio, 25 years after the original releases?
Which begs another question; Why is Pineda slaving away, singing Cover songs in his downtime IN THE ORIGINAL KEY, yet when he is with the group he has to sing half a step down?
Actually, why is Pineda still singing Cover songs period? Doesn't Journey pay him enough? If he is trying to garner favor in his home country, sing some of those original compositions people have been talking about him writing during his ZOO days. Flat out IMITATING Bryan Adams and Sammy Hagar is embarrassing for any Journey singer to be doing to supplement his income.

Considering the top forum seems to have outposted this one, 2OOO to 500 over the last few days (which would be a ratio of 4 to 1, in layman's terms), I figure this place needs someone to come in and introduce some stimulating conversation. It doesn't necessarily have to be based on facts, just something a little different than the lovefest that has slowly made inroads into a lot of these threads of late.

I'm laughing. When it's over 50 percent good you consider it a lovefest. I guess you are never worried about the hatefest that makes huge inroads here and the need to balance that also.
