Correct.
The fact is, he has kept his name away from the spotlight for just too long to be able to do what the like of Brooks and Dion and others are doing out in Vegas with shows/schedules like that. Not a slam, by the way. not by any means. Just a plain fact.
This is not to say that he couldn't draw. But he'd have to start it off by going on the road and pretty much reintroducing himself. If that were a success and he built something, which he could, being the name that he is, then yes maybe one day he could do what they're doing.
I just don't see the whole 'Vegas Act' vibe on him though. Even if he did it, it would seem weird.

Bono pretty much proved the other night, you don't have to still be able to sing the way you did on the records or the way people remember you. The U.S. isn't a Karaoke culture. Originality still wins out in most cases, regardless of vocal degradation.

Yeah but wouldn't a casino laden town somewhere in Texas or the South be a more likely area for Garthy Boy? Those 128 million sales are legit, but you know that at least 110 mill came from those hokey fuckers down south and in the lower central states.

Just move here if you're that jealous BEOTCH!!!![]()
I'm no longer a country fan (only was for a few years), but Garth has WAY more fans than Perry could ever dream of. Just saying... he was a legend to a much broader audience. He was always a solo artist when it came to his hits. Perry's solo work? what... 2 albums, and really only 2 solo hits? that doesn't add up to enough fans to sell out the place night after night. Sorry.
I would probably be willing to pay $1000.00 per ticket to see Perry, but I don't think I'll ever get that chance. It would be nice if he could get that same deal as Garth, but I just don't think he'd be able to keep the place filled. That's all they care about.

Garth was the first country album I ever owned. He was a huge crossover artist b/c of his energy on stage and rocking hits and ballads. Most people who didn't care for country loved Garth in my circle of friends.

I think a lot of people underestimate Perry's potential and I have no doubt his voice is in good shape. Could he tour like Journey did? No, but Vegas is certainly doable and he could pace it so he didn't burn out.

I honestly don't think that is out of reach for him and it wouldn't surprise me if he were thinking something along those lines. That is something he very well could pull off. And if he is being truthful in how much he likes to perform in front of people, in an intimate setting, that would be a win win.Saint John wrote:If Perry decided to do 20 shows in a 1,500 seat Vegas venue and they were Friday and Sunday shows for 10 weeks there wouldn't be one unsold ticket.
When it comes to Perry, I don't think you HAVE to be to figure it out. It isn't rocket science.Jubilee wrote:journeyrock wrote:Perry could do it with the right PR program. I was thinking something along the same line. It's all in the promotion and packaging. Not only do I think he could do it, but I really wish he would do it. Fifteen hundred seats a night, three to four nights a week? Doesn't sound out of reach, it all goes back to promotions (and of course what Perry feels he's able to commit to), IMHO. Of course, I'm not an industry insider, so what do I know...![]()
