me too Portland...sigh!portland wrote:Gunbot wrote:ScarabGator wrote:brywool wrote:STEVE PERRY IS COMING BACK TO JOURNEY!!!
YES!!! I NEVER BELIEVED IT COULD HAPPEN!!!!
dont we wish.
Every day I hear one or two Journey songs on the radio. Sometimes they'll even identify the artist as Steve Perry and Journey instead of just plain "Journey". It's like he never left. I wouldn't sweat it Gator, ain't nobody in the media forgetting about Perry when it comes to Journey. Someone did a google trend chart on Arnel's site. Every time the search engine increases/ spikes for Journey/Pineda it increases also for Perry as one usually doesn't get mentioned without the other. They're intertwined for life.
I still miss the voice live!!! and well for me that's Journey.

Soto was treated just fine.
Jews were also treated fine by Hitler
Saint John wrote:If Perry's going to return it should be with Journey. Releasing another shitty album with 32 co-writers and half-ass musicians would be stupid. Perry, Schon and Cain all make each other great. That combination is deadly when it comes to lyrics, melodies and hooks.

EXACTLY. So why do people continue to beat the dead horse every day with every topic?? Get over it- it ain't happening. Move on. If you don't dig the new version, then why hang around, just to bitch about how it ain't "the good old days". Sounds like my freakin' grandparents.... "Dang, remember when gas was a nickel??? Wish that'd come back".
If people didn't hang around bitchin' about the good ol days then you wouldn't get to
come here and bitch about people bitchin' about the good 'l days!!! We make our
own fun around here!!

Jeez, gimme a break. Jeff wasn't what they wanted for whatever reason so they moved on. That happens in bands all the time. It happens in the job world. Jeff's great but his voice is not even close to what people think of when they think "Journey".
I don't get why the Jeff thing rubs people so wrong. Jeff's been in bands or the music biz all his life and replacing members is how things go. Anybody that's done the club circuit knows that. Sometimes players work out, sometimes they don't. To liken it to Jews and Hitler... gimme a break.

yeah, yer right. I withdraw that last comment. I know you didn't mean it like that literally. Rough week.
However, the deal with JSS is just so overblown by people. That crap happens in bands all the time.

If Perry, Schon, and Cain had half a brain- they'd WRITE together. Crap, if Perry can't tour anymore, write for Arnel's voice. Everybody wins. (well, except group 145)

i've said this once or twice, and someone here said it was a ridiculous idea.

I'll say it, it's a ridiculous Idea. Has Perry ever written a song for another artist like Cain has? I think Perry writes stuff that he feels only he will be able to convey emotionally. I don't think writing music for someone that is supposed to be the new and improved version of himself is something he would even contemplate.

ah, so it all boils down as to how adamant perry really is?

That's kind of like being asked to teach your ex's new girlfriend how he likes to be "serviced". Not happening.

Kelly Hansen got wring credits on nine of the songs from Can't Slow Down, the first new album from Foreigner that he has been on, so let AP have a turn. Honestly, I think even if Pineda doesn't write a lick, his name will show up on a few of the credits just to throw a bone to his fans. It's not like it will take money out of anyone's pocket. AATY and WDILYL have completey disappeared from the radio while the old favorites are still going strong. No one's breaking the bank from songwriting credits off these new albums anytime soon.
As sappy as Open Arms is, being on two movie soundtracks, 30 million Journey albums and 20 million Mariah Carey albums has made it's two song writers a pretty penny. Those kind of sales just don't happen anymore.

So basically Arnel will never be able to win. If they have his name on some good songs, people will say Neal and Jon just did that out of the kindness of their heart. If they're bad songs and his name is on them, he will be blamed for the whole song. I can't wait for this new album.![]()
