Let me be perfectly clear here: In no way do I believe these videos/videogames etc. are responsible for the depravity gripping our society. It's far more complicated than that. They may influence people already fucked up to do something a certain way, but they in no way should be blamed any more than heavy metal music or even hard rock music should be blamed.

The ONLY problem with today's society is parenting.

I don't know if I'd say only problem, but that's where much of it starts. It's also the last line of defense

Of course they are not the root cause -- that starts at home, but I don't see how anyone can deny that movies or video games with very stylized action don't influence how these kids perceive violence. If they didn't, none of the little jerks who break down and pull a "Columbine" would go John Woo with a pistol in each hand. They have to get that idea from somewhere.

I'm not denying they influence people to carry out some kind of evil in a certain way. But they in no way should be blamed for the evil itself.

#1 Evil's been there as long as man
#2 They're gonna find a way to do something evil regardless if they have enough hate and/or enough sociopathy in them

You're right. If parents have the means, they can have full control. But that requires having the means to home school and such. I'm a fairly off the cuff dad, where I'm reactive instead of proactive. Which means I suck. But luckily I have a daughter with a damn good sense of responsibility. I couldn't ask for a better kid.

You're probably doing a lot more proactive shit than you realize, even if it's subconscious. My parents never really were all gung ho strict with me. I never got in trouble. That's not to say I never did anything dumb, but they instilled enough sense in me to be dumb responsibly

So what's the solution? Ban everything? I'm quite conservative as most here should know by now, but there are some libertarian values coursing strongly through my veins.

I think Hollywood people that are filming and putting this shit out there are disgusting and are really quite pathetic for not being able to be more artful about certain things (often, a great artist shows you/tells you things subtly), because they are just trying to generate controversy and get people to watch it. But, I'd fight to the death for their ability to do it as well. I personally think there are some things that shouldn't be shown/allowed, but every one has his own line to draw and that just isn't good enough for what we're supposed to stand for. So I have to live with some garbage like this.

It's one of the best parts about Cleveland... one of the best microbreweries in the US. It's starting to get popular nationwide. I hope not too popular because that tends to ruin some good breweries...

Texas is still really conservative. Southern Baptists have a strong hold. We have what's called "Blue Laws" that control a lot of things, including when department stores can be open, when alcohol can be sold, and what types of alcohol can be sold and such. I love your pic, btw.

Thanks Rick:)

Florida has some towns that still have the blue laws. In my town you can't buy alcohol after 2am and before 9am, which sucked when I was trying to buy a bottle of wine one morning, to use for dinner, and I was shopping at 8am :x I DON'T get that. We can buy it on Sunday though. The next town over however, you can't. I don't think we have any true dry towns though! I bet there were some years ago though for the reasons you're saying!!

Well PA's laws with the "state liquor store" thing is weird to me too. I mean that limits you too. And the beer distributors only have certain hours. I remember you could buy up to 2 six packs to take out of a bar though? Is that right? So many crazy laws!

The town I grew up in in E. Tx is still dry. They have to drive 15 miles to the county line to buy alcohol.
