My daughter proceeded to sing the song while my son was getting his exam, and the woman looked at me and said "how does she know this song so well, it's from the 80's" I told her she knows many many 80's songs because her mom listens to 80's radio stations    Some songs don't sound good coming out of a kids mouth though, I have learned! Like "singer in a smokey room, smell of wine and cheap perfume, for a smile they can share the night...." yeah, that didn't sound good coming out of her mouth when she was 8

When my daughter was 5 she would bust out into "I'm hot, sticky sweet, from my head to my feet, yeaaaaah!" Luckily the grandparents thought it was funny.

i never really got into new wave. in high school, i was more into NWOBHM (kerrang! was my bible), which lead me to metallica, then i took a detour into the LA hard rock scene - gn'r, crüe, etc.

I still listen to all of Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, and Human League CDs. I never tire of them. Depeche Mode was my band in the late 80s (esp Music for the Masses), and their music is still great. But TFF did go to guitar-driven alternative rock in the '90s, which was great. But I loved their synth pop/new wave days.
Depeche Mode:
Never Let Me Down Again - Live 06 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8l4-SzOoto

Master and Servant - 84 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUyIqG_ImfE - Best club music

They're great. Thank. He sounds a little like David Bowie.

What was great about Depeche Mode was they stayed true to their sound but just updated a little and went into the 90s making good music, with this fantastic hit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V7eR7AqvUkI - Enjoy the Silence, one of their biggest hits, and even remixed it in 2003 or later and was a hit again.

Absolutely. They've really held on. They are one of the few bands I would consider going to see these days, (as well as Perry alone or with Journey--like that will ever happen.) lol

Barely. What was interesting was the singer, Dave Gahan, almost died b/f that album, Ultra. He was a heroin addict. And had had two heart attacks previously b/c of drugs and overdosing. And Alan Wilder, the keyboardist, fed up, left, who composed all the music and Martin Gore was the writer of the lyrics. Dave Gahan never wrote any of the music that he sang, ever. They thought without Wilder the band couldn't go on after Dave got out of rehab. And Ultra was a very dark album b/c of the circumstances of Dave almost dying and his addiction and Wilder leaving, and a much more mature album, not the dance sound, but I thought amazing. Dave finally wrote songs on a solo album and I believe their last DM album.
