Cincy will beat the Gators (because they will "want it more" ) and then Brian Kelly will hop a plane to South Bend to get to work on rebuilding the Irish.

I still think ND wants Meyer. They can pay him 30 times what UF pays him.

I was about 10....

Oh I can still have those feelings...but it goes away remarkably fast....:)

Red13JoePa wrote:LOL love Gator's "congratulations" post to 'Bama that includes not a scintlilla of actual credit to The Tide for droping a beatdown on FL.

All about what FL didn't do (as opposed to what they COULDN'T do AGAINST the other team), and the old "wanted it more."
Then, incredibly, shots at LAST year's 'Bama team in an effort to prop up this year's team should they win the bowl game and then the all-emcompassing "'bama, Florida it's STILL the SEC that will win" stuff. That AFTER downplaying their victory in the SEC title game, and the mind boggles.

Look into it anyway you want to man, Ive been a Gator my entire life and have heard a lot rougher bullshit than this. I gave Bama kudos. They deserved to win, blah, blah, blah, what more can I say???? Take off the hater glasses for a while and maybe you'll realize Im not the son of a bitch you think I am.

Dean, Urban isnt going anywhere-first and main reason is because Shelly-Urban's wife-doesnt want to go up there. Shes already said last week that she loves where they are now. Their oldest daughter just started college at Georgia Tech playing volleyball and they love the proximity. The daughter, Gigi couldve went to ND, she was offered by many schools, including Florida but she chose GT. Money isnt the issue because hes already making nearly 4 million a year and Florida is no slouch themselves financially. How many schools out there are paying the football and basketball coaches nearly 4 mill??? Florida is, and can go even higher than that.

And yes its possible Cinncinnati could upset Florida...providing Florida shows up flat again, just like Bama in last years Sugar Bowl and/or Florida last saturday night. I happen to believe-and maybe Im wrong for this-that these Gators will bounce back and show up ready to play.

Absolutely, as it should. When a loved one gets diagnosed with terminal cancer or your child or wife is raped and murdered or a loved one is paralyzed, then it puts it in perspective. That's a reason for staying depressed. Absolutely silly to stay in the dumps over something like this for fans past the initial disappointment.

Jana, give me a break here. Thats 2 different discussions. If I dealt with any of those scenarios then absolutely things would be different. But Im not some kind of monster because I take a loss very hard. You obviously dont know how close Ive been to UF since birth. My father graduated there, my sisters and their children. Ive been attending games and Gator Growls with my dad a long time. I have pictures as a baby in a stroller being wheeled around the campus. Gainesville has been a second home to me for a long time. Forgive me for having a special place in my life for that place.

Well, dude I don't think you're an SOB, and I do extend my condolences and best-wishes I know you're bummed right now but they're still going to a BCS bowl and could still CONCIEVABLY finish as high as #2.

Meyer is their first choice. Stoops #2. But Kelly will be the one to take the job. And I think he will be a great choice.

Kelly's pro-abortion rights, though, and that's giving some boosters and alums pause. Not to mention the Priests, but then they did have Barack Obama speak for graduation....

I'm not calling you a monster, SG, or even judging. I live in Gator country and am surrounded by die-hard Gator fans that live and breathe the Gators and never miss a game. Most put it in perspective past the first day of disappointment as they've gotten older. But I do have one friend that even owns a bus where he takes everyone to the game that I suspect if he had a case to try today he would have to cancel due to his deep depression over the loss.

No kidding. The only really tough team Florida played was Alabama and we know how that turned out. Let's see here:

Florida's schedule:

Charleston Southern- W 62-3
Troy W 56-6
Tennessee W 23-13
Kentucky 41-7
LSU W 13-3 (1st semi tough game)
Arkansas W 23-20 (2nd semi tough game)
Miss St W 26-19
Georgia W 41-17
Vandy W 27-3
S Carolina W 24-14 (semi tough)
Fla Intl W 62-3
FSU W 37-10

Alabama L 32-13.

Not an imposing schedule at all. The case can be made that the PAC 10 and the Big 12 are tougher this year than the SEC. The numbers back it up.

Florida's schedule included 2 semi toughies and two toughies. They squeaked by the semi toughies and got throttled in the only real hard game of the year.

UF only played 8 SEC teams of which 2 were any good. The likes of Vandy, UK, MSU and Georgia don't exactly scare the shit out of people. If your conference is so fucking good, play the entire league, not just a select shitty 8 games.

Come on Dean, you know that while some of those teams were down this year (Georgia) the SEC is still top to bottom the most talented conference. Texas and Cinncinnati will know that very soon.

Neighbors a few doors down just painted their mailbox post and mailbox with gator colors and put a gator box on it plus the blue and orange lights they display in their garage lights amongst many other things around the outside of the house during Gator season  Orlando definitely is Gator country. I almost bought some FSU cupcakes at Publix just to counteract it all ;)

Didn't you just learn not to write checks your mouth can't cash? Last year Utah smoked the 2nd place SEC team. The PAC 10 went 6-0. If UT beats Bama and Cincy beats UF, then what will the spin be? You can't have it both ways. You can't talk it up and fail on the field, then fall back on the "well we're down this year" card. The PAC 10 has been down for 5 years and still goes 5-1, 4-2 and 6-0 in bowl games but I don't talk about them being the best. Right now though, their best 5 teams are better than the SEC's top 5 no doubt.

I can Cincy running over and through UF's defense. You got exposed last week to the run. Your defense is not that good. Playing Troy, FLA Intl and Vandy will inflate the stats.

I want to see the PAC 10 play the SEC in a bowl game.

you dont live near Hoffner/Curry Ford Rd area do you??? I knew lots of people that decorated with gator lights at Christmas!

Nope, Ocoee which has it's share of fans too!

I wonder if Meyer will allow that Drunk Duncan to play in the Bowl Game? I bet he does. He is a huge factor.

I'd love to see Cinci do something shitty Ohio State couldn't and topple UF, but I don't think they have the defense to do it. They are more than capable of putting some points on the board though. It's hard to see UF losing this game barring a complete mental destruction/meltdown.

Passionate sports fans are usually passionate about most other "important" and even "non-important" things in life. I'd never fault you for your passion. I just want to talk some smack!

I'm in the same boat and I'm as passionate as it gets and I relate to Gator's feelings. If you don't have a passion in this fucked up world, then quit! No, it's nothing life threatening, that's just taking it TOO FAR when trying to bolster up someones feelings, but the dude, like many of us here, have an internal connection to our passion and football happens to be it. We feel connected in such a way that it's like a high and a band of brotherhood. I don't fault Gator for feeling this way and no matter what anyone says, this loss will hurt him for awhile. I've been there time and time again, in fact I STILL have an empty stomach about the Raiders loss, and the losing to the fuckin' Chiefs. Life will go on indeed, but disappointment and emptiness shouldn't be denied and it will still be felt and that's what makes us human.

Everybody on here is a hypocrite to get on Gator for it since we've all felt it in one form or another. We've all been fired up and cheered WILDLY when our team scores, or wins on a last second chance. What makes sorrow any different? Sports is an emotional thing and when your connected to it, then noone has the right to judge. People take sports pretty seriously and that's all that's to it.

Could be worse. Soccer fans in other countries indeed murder each other when a team wins or loses. Crazy, but it happens.
