He's no Bill Cowher who claws down your throat and spits in your face. If you'd ever watch his press conferences, he's entertaining, doesn't go through the motions and gives an honest opinion on every status that he's apart of, no shadiness with Tomlin. The players warmed up to him quick and he runs things his way. Following Bill Cowher is a tough act to follow and he made us forget about Cowher pretty quickly in Steel Town.
One thing I like about Tomlin that Cowher NEVER did was that he plays the 11 men that gives his team the best chance of winning and if that means not doing this and that, he'll do it. Cowher played favorites WAY too often, and great players sat on the bench because of it. Tomlin, like this week, has threatened to sit starters that aren't performing up to expectation and is falling into a trap and he is said to be indeed shaking up the lineup. Cowher would never do that. He was stubborn and played major favorites.
Well I was curious wht you thought, some of my buds don't feel like you do. And this goes back to when things were better for the Steelers, like last year and 06.
You just have to wonder what's going on when they can't play a fourth quarter or show any fire to save their lives when they are defending their SB... Not entirely the coach's fault, but hey...
Steelers fans tend to fall off the deep end whenever we lose or have a bad outing. I've seen it countless number of times and they panic more than ANY OTHER FANBASE in the league. The comments are so ludicrous over the past few weeks and the people that are saying these things are so out of whack and don't understand how things work.
As far as the defense crumbling.. I agree. The thing is, in EVERY game we have lost, outside the Cincy game (which was a stalemate) we've had 4th quarter leads and dominated most of the game. Coaches can't catch dropped balls, false starts, personal fouls, nor do they slip and fall or have a mis-communication when the play is being called. This year is hard to watch. This isn't 2006, 2003, or 2000. We were just BAD then and we fell in the hole quick and were getting beat almost in every phase, from schemes to being out manned.
This year, it's disappointing and uncharacteristic like. We have a great team and have TONS of talent. I witnessed one of the best defense's ever last season. Same guys this year and they tend to be underachieving. We lost our 2 aces on the D front and Secondary. Aaron Smith and Troy. We can afford to do without one, but both is a killer and it IS showing. We just aren't playing good football. That's on the players, not the head coach.. PERIOD.
