Having said that, the way Tim Tebow conducted himself this past weekend was admirable. He convinced me he is a class guy and I wish him well. It is one thing to look and sound good in victory, but to do so after such a crushing loss on such a big stage, I found it to be an impressive show of character. To be that emotionally upset (which I don't blame him) and collecting himself so quickly in front of millions of viewers...wow.
Now I wish I'd have followed his career and accomplishments a little closer.
I disagree... his crying, however heartfelt it might have been, took away from Bama's victory and put the attention on him when it should have been focused solely on a dominant and victorious Bama team.
Hmm...I don't think Tebow told CBS where to point their cameras...

You put on your fucking helmet and hide your crying. That was nothing more than "Look at me, I'm grandstanding (again)." After the game I really expected 2 things out of him. First, I expected him to shake hands and wish the conference champions good luck. Second, I expected him to hold his head up proudly because they could have played Alabama 10 times and they probably would have lost all 10. They simply weren't better in any capacity. That game was far from a "heartbreaker." Fine...you wanna cry because the game's over??? Then he should've started at around the middle of the second quarter.
Ehwmatt wrote:Haha, knew you'd have my back. I don't expect him to shake hands unless he honestly wants to. I do expect him not to make a cinema show out of a blow-out loss.

Colt looked like a Pop Warner QB...I swear 10 times out of 10 in a reg season game the clock goes to 00:00 on that last "pass" and game is OVER with no replay.

That had to be the worst coaching/game management I've ever seen in my life... they are damn lucky that freshman made a lights out kick. They should have fuckin centered the ball and called time out, at the bare minimum!
What luck... that would have been one of the most infamous blunders in sports history if the game had ended that way.

Huh? You do realize that Mario Williams was taken as the number one overall pick by the Texans just a few years back, right? Not to mention KiJana Carter, Russell Maryland, Courtney Brown (still trying to figure that one out), Orlando Pace, Dan Wilkinson, and even Keyshawn Johnson were all number one overall picks!

Absolutely, as it should. When a loved one gets diagnosed with terminal cancer or your child or wife is raped and murdered or a loved one is paralyzed, then it puts it in perspective. That's a reason for staying depressed. Absolutely silly to stay in the dumps over something like this for fans past the initial disappointment.
Jana, give me a break here. Thats 2 different discussions. If I dealt with any of those scenarios then absolutely things would be different. But Im not some kind of monster because I take a loss very hard. You obviously dont know how close Ive been to UF since birth. My father graduated there, my sisters and their children. Ive been attending games and Gator Growls with my dad a long time. I have pictures as a baby in a stroller being wheeled around the campus. Gainesville has been a second home to me for a long time. Forgive me for having a special place in my life for that place.

Since 2000, only 3 players selected # 1 overall were not Quarterbacks.
2000: Courtney Brown DE
2001: Michael Vick QB
2002: David Carr QB
2003: Carson Palmer QB
2004: Eli Manning QB
2005: Alex Smith QB
2006: Mario Williams DE
2007: JaMarcus Russell QB
2008: Jake Long OL
2009: Matthew Stafford QB
Seems like this past decade of football have been dominated by Quarterbacks in the draft and all of these so called studs were getting mainstream attention of being the next franchise of a Quarterback needy team. Not so much the case this season as QB has many question marks coming into April's draft as far as #1 is concerned.

I know the history of the draft, but read what you wrote, dude. You clearly said that this would probably be the first year (and you didn't say "first year in a long time"...which still wouldn't be true) that a QB wasn't taken with the number one pick. There is no question if there is a really good QB in the draft, he will always be taken first, simply because they have the biggest impact on a team.

He should take lessons from LaDanian Tomlinson. Tebow needs to get fitted for a visor with windshield wipers.
X factor wrote:Maybe, dude- but the PAC 10 (and NO other conference really) has to play as tough of a conference schedule year in and year out as the SEC. These guys get beat up during the year like no other conference. Sure, sometimes a USC or a Utah can beat them in one game. Let those boys play an entire season in the SEC and we'll see. Even Vandy and my beloved UK aren't the bottom feeders they once were (though Vandy did suck mighty hard this year). I just don't think any other conference is a balanced as the SEC.

What the hell are you talking about? Do you even watch the football games?
Let's see... the 3rd, 4th, and 5th place teams in the SEC (all bowl bound) played the 7,8, and 9th place teams in the Pac-10 this year (all sitting at home). Guess what? Every single game was super close... with the Pac-10 8th place team actually beating the SEC 4th place team on their home field!!!
Again you make this crap statements up without checking the facts.
Washington couldn't even stay on the field with Oregon, Oregon State, and Stanford... and they freaking out-gained LSU 500 to 300 yards.
UCLA was horrible this year and got blown the hell out 3 times in Pac-10 play and they go to Tennessee and beat the Vols there... despite several "homegrown SEC" calls.
Don't sit there and tell me the SEC is so much better because the facts show they just ain't sonny.
I am not saying the Pac-10 is some vastly superior conference... what I am saying is that it seems to me that if you mixed up the teams in the Pac-10 and the SEC there would really be no discernible difference in the difficulty of the games.

You know what? Ive ignored all of your uninformed bullshit but one statement you made here is so idiotic I have to address it. "they could have played Alabama 10 times and they probably would have lost all 10"...this is complete crap on a plate. Did you see the stats prior to the game? These two teams were as evenly matched as it gets, offense and defense. Alabama wanted it a lot more than Florida last saturday night-I'll admit Florida basically came in like a bunch of prima donnas just expecting the win to be handed to them like it was their God given right. If they play again a week later I truly believe results could/would be different.
SJ, in case you dont know when a teams goes on a 22-23 game winning streak as Florida did complacensy(sp?) sets in,especially with a bunch of college kids not long out of high school. You tell me the Gator team that showed up midway thru the year to play LSU in Baton Rouge on a saturday night kickoff wouldve lost to Bama? Hell no, that team scratched and clawed and demanded the victory. Im not making any excuses for last saturday nights loss but I DAMN sure wont listen to someone telling me that Bama wins 10 out of 10, thats a homer who obviously isnt thinking or speaking intelligently. Which is it with you SJ?
