Mel and I are lucky, we're short so our friends feel bad and HAVE to let us ahead. (at least they better feel bad!)

If that's the case....I am 5'1" so I want the front too.....

See, we laugh, but seriously, it's always frustrating for me. I struggle just to be able to see what's going on at standing only shows. It's hard enough for me being in a standing crowd like that for other embarrassing reasons, but that just adds to it. I remember the (now legendary) MR weekend in Cleveland, at the Journey show, we were in the front and Dan, who is a frickin' skyscraper, looked down at me from up there and made this face like "you poor little thing" and let me stand in front of him.

I totally get the crowd thing....when you are little like us and people are drunk and pushing it can be scary....I was in the front row at a AC/DC concert and that was one of the most scary experiences I have had...I was bruised the next day!

Danger Danger at Firefest last year. The barrier was steel mesh and I had this vision of being squished through it like a cheese grater. It WAS scary. Debbie and I left, turned the front row spot over to Matt and Jebber.

I was dragged to a Gwar show once, right around the time my whole panic thing was starting to show itself. it was so bad, my friend and I both got hurt and I ended up punching a guy. The next time I went to a show like that (I wasn't into that shit, but 5 of my friends were so I got dragged) I stayed in the back with a drink in my hand.

See sometimes I prefer the back....I can't see but I have way more control of my surroundings that way....in the front the view is great...the exit strategy no so good!

I don't mind being in the back if it's not an act I really care about.
But when I really WANT to be close, I have problems. :(

It wasn't bad at the Frontiers show in Cleveland earlier this year - we got close enough, and the crowding issue wasn't too bad, but the gross dude right in front of me that kept crop dusting us with the remains of his spicy lunch, I could have done without.

Me too :( It never fails no matter where I am, I always get some 6'5" dude in front of me  . Even if the guy has some short little petite woman with him, it never fails the guy is the one who ends up in front of me, and at 5'2", even if I wear heels, it just doesn't help me :x  . L and I are also magnets for some reason for the drunkest people in the venue to be seated or standing where ever we are, never fails! I've had my hair petted by strange drunk men and I've been groped by strange drunk women

We need skyscraper Dan as our bodyguard   And Gayle and MiMi too

Well, then that was never me in front of you. I always seem to attract the shorter guys. I'm some kind of magnet. My ex-h used to tell people he was 5'9" and I laughed out loud every time. And he was the tallest guy I've even been with.

Is one Rosemont Theatre and the other The Vic ? :D

I'm thinking either Joe's on Weed St. or the Double Door. Maybe even the Rialto Theatre in Joliet and perhaps Paramount Theatre in Aurora. Can't wait to find out where it will be.

Looked at Joe's - but won't be doing it there.

What are folks general thoughts on a General Admission show - standing only? (With facilities to eat and sit down next door...)

The VIP idea still stands, but obviously won't have a "best seat" element to it.

Went to a concert at House of Blues in Chicago, had a nice dinner and then stood for the show. I think there was a VIP section up on the balcony. General admission was on the floor. I thought that worked out pretty good :)

House of Blues is very $$$$ to rent. So that is not an option.

What about Park West or the Chicago Theatre? Am I getting close? LOL

No. Andrew said suburbs and you guys are looking at Chicago venues.

the Park West would be cool though. Might be too small.

I wonder if the place might turn out to be Durty Nellies in Palatine IL. I saw Steve Lukather there last year, and it was a pretty nice place, probably same size as Joe's on Weed St.

I was there 2 weeks ago to see 7th Heaven...way too small. I saw Lukather there, too. I was standing with Joe Vana for a while. Lukather was sick as a fucking dog that night.

MiMi and I will protect you!!!! We need to throw the Flying Korean in the mix too....I once watched her take down a 10 year old front row at Def Lep. It wasn't pretty.

No. Andrew said suburbs and you guys are looking at Chicago venues.

the Park West would be cool though. Might be too small.

Park West is very cool, but yes, too small.

You'd never have known he was sick, he played his ass off, that was such a great show, I was able to nab the playlist after the show too. I was looking around for Joe that night, but once the show started I was dialed in.

I've never seen anyone spend more time on the floor laughing. She's a trip.

She is one of a kind, that's for sure!!! Will you be joining us this time around, Rickster????

Still waiting on Andrew to hammer out the details before I can commit.
