I hate that stupid show, but I was actually gonna watch this season because a friend was a finalist and got f'd out of being able to compete (not by the show...). I think they're (the show) hoping to work it so that it happens next season.

I am surprised that he hasnt been a mentor yet with the top 8 Like some of the other stars have done.
Love IDOL...
Actually looking forward to Ellen as a judge...

Simon just announced he's leaving after this season.

If Simon is leaving Idol this guy will be my choice to replace him. Another British acerbic judge from America's Got Talent, or it might be the end of the show.

He sold away his rights in "Journey" after he recorded TBF and refused to tour. He can't do a "Journey night." "Journey night" was supposed to be 40 shows in 1996-1997. And it's hard to perpetuate the lie that he "sounds as good as anytime in the mid 80's" if he gets out there and blows ass.

StocktontoMalone wrote:Idol is and always has been a psychological experiment. The show hooks people(mostly young impressionable girls) on LOOKS, and the current flavor of disposable music and rapes that shit over and over for(now, because they've added AT LEAST 8 weeks since the beginning) 16 weeks.

The auditions can be funny, and are a train wreck you just can't turn away from....

None of the winners, or runner-ups for that matter, will be remembered for any salient contribution to music.....

Idol is a money-making machine for Simon Fuller, plain and simple. The show is an advertising goldmine.

And I'm sorry, any person over the age of 20 who finds this show appealing and 'cant miss it', is a wackadoo.

I believe the show is fixed, and a couple of levels, and I don't believe the public really has control of the voting process...

Melinda Doolittle had the best voice, and the most singing talent of ANY idol contestant up til now....and that she didn't win bothered me.

I admittedly watched the first season, and have picked and poked at it since then.....after hearing Melinda sing...chose to finish that season....

The judges are a joke....they are stereotypical characitures. Simon is the bad cop. Randy is the cluless ex-musician(barely), and Paula, who seems only to care about a contestant's fashion, and about people 'making the song their own.' The woman has 3 mins to form an opinion and she fumbles over the critique like it was a surprise.? Her pseudo-flirtation with Simon is scripted, and her alcoholic/drug inspired weirdness is deplorable....

Call me a whackadoo!! I don't put that much thought in to it. I jut find it entertaining.

After not touring for 18 months, this will be probably be in full affect, come 2011.

No, where did you get that idea? Neal may how ever have a solo tour in 2010 while Arnel is going full blast in the Philippines, not even taking a break since Journey's last tour ended.

Because you said "After not touring for 18 months, this will be probably be in full affect, come 2011."

I may have misunderstood. My coffee is cold and I'm pretty p.o.'d about and, that that's cureently occupying my entire thought process. Definitely a more pressing matter than what Journey is up to.

I'm sure this has been asked too many times regarding the bad audition. I know without these audition, Idol will be boring as hell. But do these idiots really think they are good singers and capable of competing on this show, or they just bunch of attention whores who just like to be seen on national television in spite of their embarassing action. :?

Next week is Shania Twain. :) Mary J and Posh last week are such divas. I think Shania will throw some fun and realism into the panel, she strikes me as much more of a genuine type person.

most I think are attention grabers... who love the spotlight and it gives them 5 minutes of TV time... but some think they are so good, because no one has told them they stink in there whole lives... I think they get to idol hoping for some positive... and when they come out of audition... they are shocked that the judges said no... my guess is 90% of the ones that have been told NO... were never told NO in their lives... and thus... reality sinks in on them and it destroys who they thought they were for a few moments... just my two cents worth... idol has been on for 10 years... you would think by now the lousy ones would stay home... ;-)
