That's funny. When the first snowstorm hit the east coast last year that is EXACTLY what I heard on CNN...that warmer air over the Atlantic ocean put more humidity in the air...so when the cold air hit, it turns to snow.

Dear Idiot Hoagiepete, non-esteemed scientist and researcher...

There are MILLIONS of articles linking man-caused global warming to an increase in hurricanes, virulent weather, and increased precipitation:

This one, taken from the 2007 Fourth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC-AR4), is interesting. It also has nothing to do with ANY of the "disputed" findings to which you dittoheads so frequently refer:

Several peer-reviewed studies show a clear global trend toward increased intensity of the strongest hurricanes over the past two or three decades. The strongest trends are in the North Atlantic Ocean and the Indian Ocean. It is “more likely than not” (better than even odds) that there is a human contribution to the observed trend of hurricane intensification since the 1970s. In the future, “it is likely [better than 2 to 1 odds] that future tropical cyclones (typhoons and hurricanes) will become more intense, with larger peak wind speeds and more heavy precipitation associated with ongoing increases of tropical [sea surface temperatures].”

Global temperature has increased and precipitation patterns have changed over the 20th century as a result of human-induced global warming, resulting in some increases in extremes of temperature and precipitation. According to the IPCC-AR4, “[i]ncreases in the amount of precipitation are very likely [better than 9 to 1 odds] in high-latitudes, while decreases are likely [better than 2 to 1 odds] in most subtropical land regions,” and “[i]t is very likely [at least 9 to 1 odds] that hot extremes, heat waves, and heavy precipitation events will continue to become more frequent.”

Also, put this in your pipe and smoke it...or at least do some authentic research on these topics without any misleading keywords which would lead you to articles written by your average everyday idiot who knows NOTHING about science whatseover and is merely attempting to sway public opinion to support his campaign beneficiaries.

The Keeling curve, measuring CO2 from the Mauna Loa Observatory.

The retreat of numerous glaciers is shown in before-and-after photographs.

A study by researchers at the Physics Institute at the University of Bern and the European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica presenting data from Antarctic ice cores showing carbon dioxide concentrations higher than at any time during the past 650,000 years. That INCLUDES the ice ages, morons.

Temperature record since 1880 showing that nine of the ten hottest years ever measured in this atmospheric record have all occurred in the last decade. Coincidence? Only if you're a major league idiot.

A 2004 survey, by Naomi Oreskes of 928 peer-reviewed scientific articles on global climate change published between 1993 and 2003. The survey, published as an editorial in the journal Science, found that every article either supported the human-caused global warming consensus or did not comment on it.

Intersting, huh?

More warmth doesn't equal more humidity. Hence the difference between, say, Arizona and Florida.

Dear Idiot 7...There is a closer link between sun activity and the rise/fall temperatures than between the rise/fall carbon emissions.

I'm not sure how to take being called an idiot by someone that has an avatar of someone either hurling, getting ready to take it up the ass or thinking someone ought to actually be impressed with a do-rag and some triceps. Having said that...here is what I said...

"This is just like predictions the past few years of all the killer hurricanes that were going to occur because of GW...that didn't. Just wait though. Even though we are probably getting about due for a big hurricane season...when it occurs many will be claiming it is due to GW. You heard it here first."

The point being...when on a roll, the "experts" were predicting a bunch of shit that didn't happen. Oops. No harm no foul. But, everytime something does occur, it will be because of manmade global warming. They will have the 1,000,000s as you say "factual" studies to prove it. blah blah blah In fairness, I would say the same thing about people stating we are having global cooling now based on this year's frigid winter.

I'll stand by what I have said before. You can find a paper done by "credible" reseachers on any viewpoint you want, with any conclusion you want, all driven by the almighty dollar. No money, no research. I've seen it and lived it.

I'm no more a scientist than anyone else on this board. Never claimed to be, nor will I. I only have an opinion based on what has been read and experienced, which is worth as much as any other opinion around here...about $.00 and being called a name.

I've had that avatar since Day One, for no particular reason other than my mugshot would cause most women to run for the hills after they puked themselves.

Hoagiepete, I couldn't care less about your "personal experience" with weather. What concerns me is the near-unanimous consent from scientists from a broad range of disciplines utilizing a widely varied degree of irrefutable, documented fact from a multitude of research methodologies. Sorry, pizone, but their conclusions would seem to outweigh your "personal opinion" that is based almost exclusively on conjecture, heresay, and uninformed opinion.

Hey, look...the meat eating population grew and in turn we grew more meat, which flatulate in growing proportions and that, my friends, is what depletes the ozone layer. The first falacy is that it is man made. It's not. Millions of farting cows are to blame. You want to slow this down....grow & feed less cows!

I had a rough day at the office and am too frickin' tired. That's why they call me an ol' Hoagie. Couple beers probably helped too.

Anyway...I thought one one-liner was pretty damn good for me. Hell, I was pretty proud of myself.

Worst part is, truth hurts on the mug.

It's not anywhere close to "near-unanimous" agreement. I'm looking for the studies referenced in this article but it backs up what I've heard and read all along...

The most important thing to understand about global warming is the extent to which there is that there is a lot of disagreement in the scientific community about what's going on. An international survey of climate scientists conducted in 2003 by German environmental scientists Dennis Bray and Hans von Storch uncovered many interesting results. Specifically, most scientists don't believe scientific knowledge is sufficient to predict future climate.

They also found most scientists don't believe computer models "accurately verify climate conditions." Most scientists believe global warming would have some positive as well as negative effects. And most scientists believe the science is too unsettled to form a basis for public policy.

An even more recent survey, conducted in 2006, of members of the National Registry of Environmental Professionals, uncovered similar results.

Fully 34 percent of environmental scientists and practitioners disagree that global warming is a serious problem facing the planet. Moreover, 41 percent disagree that the planet's recent warmth "can be, in large part, attributed to human activity." An overwhelming 71 percent disagree that recent hurricane activity is significantly attributable to human activity. Fully 47 percent disagree that international agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol provide a solid framework for combating global climate change.

Anyone who thinks Fox News doesn't have a bias is fooling themselves. However, there are certainly plenty of left-leaning outlets out there like MSNBC, CBS, NBC, etc.

THEY USED TO HAVE A DAMN MONOPLOLY on all the news... but now they dont... and that is why every chance they get... the left trys to well report that there biased... too fucking bad...
