I have never in my life purchased a Steve Perry solo album and I never will. I only like his work in Journey. Street Talk was pretty good but the other 2 albums were just terrible. I would have rather listened to someone throw babies into a blender.

The only place Revelation needs to be knocked of is the counter, straight into the trash can. Just no replay value at all, unfortunately. Arrival is really becoming the gold standard for the band's post Perry work. As low as the bar was set with that album, nothing else Journey has done the last few years really compares artistically. I really hope this new album will be as different as Neal has proclaimed. TDTWT was a great song but one song does not an album make. If money really isn't an issue, go ahead and make something cutting edge for a change.
Van Halen got away with it, and they had all the pressure in the world on them. Granted, not too many bands are going to land a Sammy Hagar type member who isn't afraid of leading. Journey has no expectations at all this late in the game, what's the harm in taking a risk?

I've sort of swung back to Neal's corner for the moment but if he peddles some garbage catered solely towards his new found fan base (ballad bomber material), I'm going to end up very disappointed about it. That fan base was pretty non existent on his solo tour, by the way.

I know what you mean. I was with some family and friends the other night, 90% of which are Filipino. We played the Live in Manila DVD after dinner. All those people cared about were the old ballads and pretty much didn't know about, didn't care and didn't want to know about anything else. You could tell.....Open Arms, they listened intently. Change for The Better, they started getting up and talking. WYLAW came on and they all sat down and shut up. Not exactly the order of things, but you get the idea.

Bushwa ...AP is a great guy, great voice, perhaps some diction issues for some, but none of that accounts
for my dislike of that CD ...including the god awful retreads!! You made the hammer, nail connection for
me ...no replay value!! If I never heard a single song from that CD ever again, I lose nothing!!
However, it seems as though there are people in the double platinum figures who disagree!!

The quality of this next album should be of paramount importance to Journey. I see it as a make or break it album. The first album with Arnel I can understand. It was a rushed process as the band wanted to get out on tour. Most of us understand why the retreads were made, not that it makes them any better, but they did prove that Arnel can sound like Journey on the old material. Now this album had better fuckin rock!

I agree that they need to come up with something different and I think they will. But, I think Revelation has some great tunes besides TDTWT, CFTB is one of their best rockers in a long time, I won't count NWA cause I know " Its Just rehashed" or AATY " its a country western song" But WIN is a superb song, Arnels Vocals on this are classic and rival Perry IMO. And lastly, Neal's playing on this album is actually the best thing about it, better than TBF or Arrival, I listen to it a least once a week just to hear him.
