Well, to me, yeah, it would be no big deal. People can say whatever they want about Bush, Clinton, Obama, Carter, Nixon... whatever. Is it particularly appropriate to do so AT the White House? No it probably is not. I think we're all in agreement on that. But it's not the worst offense ever, and certainly not the worst offense ever commited in that building.
But guess what... every single Commander in Chief has sullied that White House, or at least the position of "president" in one way or another, and a lot we know about and even more we probably do not know about. Watergate? Ring a bell? Cumstained dress in the Oval Office? Marilyn Monroe, while the wife and kiddies were home waiting?
So Paul walks in and makes a "Bush is dumb" joke... big deal. Bush IS dumb. And Bush stood in that Rose Garden many a time and proved that with the cameras rolling. But hey - at least Paul didn't get blown from under the podium WHILE he was joking on the ex-potus.
