MOODY BLUES...

Postby lights1961 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 2:07 am

All I gotta say was this show was amazing, fantastic... awesome... killer... the BAND was great, highlights were, The Question, Tuesday AFternoon, Nights in White Satin, Singer in a Rock and Roll Band, and a host of others...
in their late 60s these guys can flat out still play really tight as a group... 40 years of timeless songs... crazy good.
about 3200 people packed the civic center...which is close to a sell out... Tuesday afternoon had me chocked up for sure...
and so did the Question... I guess the reason I love the Moodies so much is the emotion it brings... the same as Journey's timeless classics do... gives you goosebumps when you hear the music!!

a couple of pics... the camera police were every where... so waited to the end to take a few from my cell phone...

I don't think I've ever heard them sing Go Now live, personally. Denny Laine, the person Justin replaced on Guitar was their original vocalist on that for the band.
I know Laine continued singing that song live as a member of Wings.

One of my favorite bands all time, seen them numerous times, and they never disapoint. I wish they would release some new material. "Strange Times" and "December" were both very good albums they released, but it has been quite a spell now.

Did you read the interview with Justin that I posted? He says most people only want live CDs and DVDs form the older acts so it makes it hard to get new music out there.

He's right. Older acts can still play to great-sized crowds once a year who are nostalgic for their hits, but that doesn't translate into them buying their new music, except, of course, the major acts like U2, Springsteen, etc. It's a shame fans of 70s and 80s music don't support their favorite bands, unless, of, course, the album sucks.

Thanks I missed that, very good interview. Glad to hear that he didn't dismiss a new album though.

They opened with The Voice, Wow. Long Distance Voyager was the First album that got me on board the Moodies train. The Voice and Gemini Dream were on the radio constantly back then.
Man, was 1981 one of the best years ever for great rock or what? Foreigner 4, Paradise Theatre, Hi-Infidelity, Long Distance Voyager, High 'n' Dry, For Those About to Rock, Tattoo You, Captured and Escape. Great time to be a rock fan.
From1980 to 1983, the rock scene was just freaking epic.

THAT TIME WAS AMAZING... For those about to ROCK was EPIC and an amazing follow up to Back and Black...
Foreigner 4 is probably the 2nd best Foreigner LP... I loved HEAD GAMES the best from them...

I hope its not the last time the Blues tour over hear... but they are getting close to their 70s... so it could be...

From what I understand, that is the sequel to Wildest Dreams.

Yes, great song, and I can see that being intended as a sequel. I see the setlist is a bit different from when I saw them 3 years ago.... taht time I definitely saw them open with Lovely to See You Again and they also played "December Snow" from December (great song... would sure love to hear that this time).

That is a killer set list with some suprises. Nice to see Driftwood in there, one of the few good songs from Octave. I havent seen the Moodies since 2007, I may have to catch them on this tour now.

Just got back from the Cleveland show... beautiful night on the water combined with a great show and American spirit. Can't be beat. Highlights for me were probably Driftwood, Other Side of Life, and Steppin In a Slide Zone. Loved every performance though, besides The Day We Meet Again... that song didn't do much for me.

I'd like to hear English Sunset or Gemini Dream included in the set list again.
