Miami Heat's 2010-2011 overall record

Postby S2M » Fri Jul 09, 2010 11:38 am

Ok you prognosticators...what will their record be? We will revisit this thread again next April..

I say 60-22...barring a MAJOR injury.

Hard to comment without knowing the rest of their roster. That said, what LeBron James did tonight was spineless and cowardly. Guys like Bird, Magic, Jordan, Isiah and Kobe stuck with their teams and built championships around themsleves. They didn't have to quit and run off to attempt to buy a championship. Because that's what he did ... he gave up money and the challenge of leading his own team to join Dwyane Wade's. That team will never be considered his, considering Wade won a championship there and didn't have to run off and join another team like a little bitch. Regardless of championships, and I'm not so sure he'll even win one, history will not be kind to this decision, nor should it be. What a pussy.

Thanks, Dean. For once in my life I'm a fucking Cleveland Cavaliers fan tonight. That city and state loved and adored him, and this is the payback? A fucking 1 hour press conference to gloat about leaving a fanbase, city and state in shambles? What a colossal prick.

I have yet to hear it mentioned so I'm gonna pose it ... do you think LeBron would have left if he already had a championship? I think everyone would concur that he would stay in Cleveland, and the quotes from him leaking out say as much. Here you have a guy in the prime of his career running off to another team out of fear of going ringless. I'll salute a guy like John Stockton tenfold over this chickenshit any day. I could SEE the discomfort in his eyes and in his mannerisms on the Sportscenter replay. He's not comfortable with this decision and he knows he shit on Clevealnd and all of Ohio. He will regret this decision and the giant bullseye he's put on his back. And we've all seen how he plays under pressure.

As long as this trio plays together, Wade will always have one more ring than Leroy does. Shouldn't Dwayne wear the crown instead?

Fuckin' ESPN

"With the possible exception of Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant, James is the NBA's premier player"

The next time they want an interview, Kobe should tell them to pound sand.
I'm not even a real Laker fan but all this hoopla about James over the last few months has turned me into one.
Five rings to none, two of those earned with fucking Eurosofts in the lineup, how can The premier player in the league not be Bryant?

How would you like to become persona non grata in the only state you spent your entire upbringing and part of your career in? The funniest part was when he proclaiemd "I'll still live in Akron." LOL. Yeah right. Maybe if Obama gives you his secret service detail. But he's probably not too pleased you didn't go to the Bulls. oh wait, Obama the alleged Bulls fan probably can't even pick Derrick Rose out of a lineup

Kobe Bryant is the best player on the planet and he has been for many years. I would go Kobe, Wade, Durant, Dirk and then LeBron. Possibly LeBron in front of Dirk, but I'm going reverse Affirmative Action since I couldn't decide between the two. Chris Paul is right there as well.

E-X-A-C-T-L-Y how I feel and was the first thing that came to my mind as well. What an uptight coward to run for the fences and pair himself alongside other major superstars when the going gets tough when some minor things change with the organization that drafted you and to where you were the face and savior of that franchise, let alone treated like a god. What a downright little wuss to not finish what you started. Prime example of just not being good enough and scurrying away to try to buy a championship since he couldn't do it in Cleveland.

I hate Cleveland for obvious reasons, but I would of loved to see LeBron be a man and live up to the expectations of being that #1 ultimate leader and stay put with the one team that drafted him and try to earn his legend with winning a championship with HIS team. What a missed opportunity to be lumped with guys like Jordan, Bird and KoBE. I'll say it once and say it again, LeBron will NEVER be able to even sniff the sweat that trickles off of KoBe's jockstrap and into his asscrack. LeBron will now be sought out as a man who ran away from the challenge.

Well said.

How do you feel about Shaq leaving Orlando for the Lakers in order to win a title?

Just curious, as the main difference between the two seems to be not that they left, but HOW they left...

On the surface it can be debated on paper and make the comparison, but I look deeper into it. A player like LeBron and what he brings to the table can do a helluva lot more than a player like Shaq could ever do. In some sense, Shaq needed a cast around him to pick up the slack from long range shooting, free throws and things of that nature, while LeBron is a phenom pretty much from anywhere alongside the court, so I see it as two diff situations givin the window of different styles but the situation is def eerily similiar.

Shaq made it to the finals twice with the Orlando Magic and failing to win and LeBron made it once and failed with CLE. Difference is, IMHO, that the NBA had much more force in the Jordan era and certain teams had a smaller window of opportunity to win it after losing their chance to win it all once they got there so Shaq leaving after only 4 years with the Magic was kind of like a thing to where he wasn't even there long enough to make his mark with one team (of course, money probably had a lot to do with it as well.)

James has been with Cleveland for 7 years and they set all kinds of regular season records in the regular season as far as win/loss ratio and had a pretty dominant team heading into the post season each year, including this season. The Lakers are tough, always will be if they have a man named KoBe, but givin the team and success of what LeBron is leaving after being the face for SO many years and being SO close in years past, I believe he has a better shot at winning one with the type of caliber of professional he is on the court with Cleveland NOW VS Shaq's situation back in the day of a unstoppable force that was Jordan and the Bulls. Just the way I see it.

No comparison between the two. None. Shaq joined the Lakers in 1996 and played his first full year in the 1996-97 campaign. Kobe Bryant was an 18 or 19 year old kid out of high school at the time. That was Shaq's team and Shaq's alone. He simply took his status as the Alpha Male from Orlando to LA. Kobe averaged 7.6 points in Shaq's first year and started a whopping 6 games. The following year he started 1 game. Shaq left and helped make Kobe. LeBron isn't making anyone. No one got better around him. No one learned from him. And, most importantly, no one said "I'm going to Cleveland to play with LeBron because that guy has heart and he's a winner!" He's joining fellow superstars in act of cowardly, yet legal, collusion.

The fact still remains no one came to play with him. Some were polite and used the fact that Cleveland is a shit hole as an excuse ... but that's all it was. Just a nice way of saying, "You're not a leader, have no heart and I have no desire to be an on-court spectator when you disappear in crunch-time of the playoffs."

This isn't an older veteran going from a mediocre team out of the playoffs to a contender (Clyde Drexler). This is a guy jumping from a team which finished with the best record in the league because of a premeditated plan hatched a few years ago when he and he his buddies re-upped their contracts at the same time so they could be free agents together. It is Collusion in a sense but it's also legal.

Dwayne Wade will be the first one that breaks this fellowship.

2-1 odds that one or two of the three will be injured if the season goes bad... and will be out for some time...
it will not be a team of synergy... but a team of individuals...those teams never win championships...

LeBron, D-Wade, and Bosh die while smoking a blunt on South Beach when the oil slick comes and washes them away.

LeBron can rot in hell with Modell and I won't even so much as have the courtesy to piss on the ashes.

I was very disappointed in the entire spectacle. I simply can't believe that a one-hour television show was broadcast to tell the public where one basketball player was going to play. I think it was arrogant of LeBron to even participate in it, and it disappointed me. I wouldn't have minded him leaving Cleveland to play on another team (lots of players do it) but the way he went about it made me wanna blow chunks.

My guess is that King James may join Big Ben on the most-hated list for at least a while...
