They are what they are....and well they had over 35,000 at the concert I attended.....and no it was not only
women...there were plenty of men...on their feet for the entire show...loving all of it.
So yes they have gone down the road of many types of music....but I think they actually get it....you need
to move with the times to make the real money....and well they have and ARE.
There was NO dirty dozen...yes there were some old faves...but the new stuff was as well receipted as the old stuff...so check
your attitude and glands at the door...if you don't like the band then fine.
But to say they are not relevant is a JOKE!!!
They are WAY more relevant than the Journey of today.
good to know they are back to putting on a good show. I was going to hit one of their shows this tour as it has been a few years since I saw them (on a performance well below what they were capable of), but the closest they came was 3hrs away in the middle of the week--and that just wasn't happening. When they aren't phoning it in, they are a VERY good live band. The time prior to that one on the previous tour blew the roof off the stadium as had the previous show, which might account for the elevated expectations. Maybe I just hit a bad night.
They certainly have been mixing up the setlist with a good helping of new material, and some rare stuff. They have enough hits to do a very static setlist that would please most people, and they don't do that. They have kept changing styles, and that has never been a problem with me as long as the quality stays up.
You missed a really good show...they were fabulous!! and there were many here in my town who made the trip...who
have seen many shows and have been fans for years...they were spot on.
That's my point...They "get" it...the Facebook page is updated all the time....they reach out to new fans and the ones
who have been around since day one.
They mix it up...and there is plenty of new material....and the fans know it...verse by verse...they don't sit or go get a beer
they love it all.
To have a band who is still together and still packing stadiums here and overseas is a huge accomplishment...I also can say to
see Jon and Ritchie on stage...there is now a respect between them...I think they know that they together make the music
that still fills areas...together with the rest of the band they are Bon Jovi.
People can shit on Bon Jovi all they want....but they can still fill and sell out areas......there are not many bands
from the 80's who can still do that....are there??
They have come full circle....I know it's cliche....but if Perry were with Journey they might do the same??
