Why are they doing all of this solo work? Why not get in the studio kick an awesome Journey album out with the best matierial from each member then release a solo album with whatever is left? Granted Journey has this "sound" that they're supposed to have, but lets be honest here. That "sound" didn't really become their standard sound until after Raised on Radio. Up until then every album they did had different a different sound to it to where they were pushing the issue be it rockers, bluesy songs, ballads, etc. Since they reformed with Perry for TBF the bands music although good has gotten very predictable and well to a point boring. They no longer really have anything that is rocking and with the exception of a few songs Revelations was IMO a major letdown.
The status of Journey? What's to question? The album has had lots of it recorded at this point. Pineda is coming back to the US this month to put some more into it. I don't see anything to question really. The band will kick off a world tour next year. And the album should be released just prior to the tour. Plenty of fight left in the dog, if you ask me.
Neal has pretty much always had solo projects. The one who's status, exactly, should be questioned, is Perry's. I think we all know the answer to that already.
