+1 Although I've never met ya, you seem like a good dude to me.

I don't believe you posted that for attention like somebody said, I think you just posted your views like any number of other people have done here on MR many times.....as unpopular as that may be. I don't agree with your view and everybody else has a right to disagree too, but name calling is for kids.

One request, I noticed you used the word "emote" in one of your posts in regards to people's rants and name calling.....please, that word should only be used as a verb in context to singing......you made it sound so dirty and ugly.

You prefaced your opinion with a statement that demonstrates you knew exactly the response you were going to get - then spent several pages bitching and moaning about it.

but none of those servicemen gaves their lives for me, or any other citizen of this country

The only reason you have the freedoms you do is because of those who are willing to risk their lives defending them, whether it means they stormed the beaches at Normandy or fight terrorists in Afghanistan. They died so that you may be free. Just because they did not jump in front of a bullet aimed at a US citizen on US soil does not mean they did not die defending the US and its citizens. They are fighting the war on the enemy's home soil instead of your own - the geographical location does not negate their sacrifice.

Your opinions about the current military and the war over oil are irrelevant and do nothing to support your argument given that you used Pearl Harbour as the last incidence of individuals sacrificing their lives for you. It demonstrates not only a poor argument, but ignorance of the facts. If you want to engage in a logical argument, try making one in the first place.

....the last individuals who gave their lives for this country died in Pearl Harbor....unless there is a DIRECT threat on U.S. soil - no one can claim the giving of one's life for me.

The last direct threat on US soil was actually 9/11 and as you may recall, the passengers of Flight 93 fought the terrorists for control of the plane and prevented it from crashing into the Capitol and potentially killing hundreds more. Those individuals gave their lives for their fellow countrymen too. And since Pearl Harbor was December 7, 1941, it follows then that you consider all of those who subsequently sacrificed their lives in the Second World War, against enemies who declared war on your nation, as not having died for you either. What an ungrateful fool.

Although it is very sad that they died at that young age... :(

We certainly agree on that, but it doesn't change the bitter tone of your post or excuse it. RossValoryRocks started a positive thread to acknowledge soldiers who died in service to your country and you decided to use it to start a fight of your own and then complain about the fact that you were losing it. You make an inflammatory statement knowing that you will upset a lot of people, and when you get the response you expected, you start whining about everything from "mob mentality" to how the board is managed. Not a profound example of logic, I might add.

By the way, just because most of the posters here do not agree with you and express their feelings does not make it a mob mentality - it means you pissed off a lot of people and they were willing to say so.

The REASON we have been attacked ONLY once on our own soil since 1941 (not counting the random shelling by U-Boats during World War II) is BECAUSE of our military men and women.

S2M I can't even begin to tell you how insulting to people who have served this country and to their friends and family your words are.

To think I fought for this country so he can say what it is he said, saddens me, and almost makes me feel that my service was in vain- almost.

Dean...btw, THANK YOU so very much for your service!!!

I appreciate the shit out of our military and ANYONE who serves in ANY capacity.

You're most welcome Tommy. To be honest, I hated Basic Training..man I hated it. It was unforgiving, physical Hell, and I questioned why the Hell I enlisted. However, after you accomplish those 13 weeks(Basic and AIT), you start to feel a sense of accomplishment and you take on pride; as in pride for A) what you accomplished and that of wearing the uniform with "US ARMY" on it, and B) as a representative of the nation. It isn't a matter of expecting to be thanked by your fellow brothers and sisters throughout the country(that happens quite a bit when you walk through an airport in uniform), but it does feel good to know that people realize you did sacrifice...and although I sacrificed my body and brain in the Army, it pales to the real sacrifice made by those who went to war, and didn't come back alive. And one of my main points in my argument against S2M was that it doesn't matter whether or not Bush made a mistake, for he did, or whether or not it was a war for oil or democracy or whatever. It is all about life; a life of a human who for whatever reason, signed up knowing that he or she may be killed in this particular job. But as a soldier, you do as you are told, and these men and women obeyed an order, and they paid the ultimate price. To not pay them the proper respect is just sickening to me.

A thousand "AMENS" to that one Dean.

Again? How dramatic. Jesus, you say that every time, along with the "mob mentality" comment. You post shit you know full well is going to piss people off, and when you catch crap for it, you bitch about "mobs" and say "this is my last post" or "I'm done with this place". I don't know about anyone else but I personally got PM'd "that's my last post" 3 separate times from you during your various scraps with Andrew and others here back a time when I had given you more then the benefit of doubt and thought you were a decent guy and fun to talk to and whatever, despite being warned otherwise.

Look, the pattern is seriously old. Just because people don't agree with you or don't like something you say it's "mob mentality"? What you said was incendiary and you know it. I can only recall one other person here who ever cried victim as much as you and right now you sound exactly like that. However, this is a wall I'm done trying to talk to.

It's been fun dude. Take care.

Our troops sign up knowing they may be sent to fight in a war that they might personally disagree with. That being said, they are ALWAYS serving to protect America.

Now who's stirring shit? Real cute. It seems like you're being funny, Dan, and I've known you awhile now and I would hope you wouldn't seriously call people out on something like that other than in fun, but really, that's not funny. One nighter? No. But good to know what you think of me. I ain't like that.

There was no personal tone. I hold nothing personal with Sean, and I was pretty clear. And I was trying to be reserved about it and not flat out attack the guy, but frankly, his attitude sucks, he pisses people off and stirs shit, always has, and the constant self-victimization is old hat... and it's nothing I haven't said here before going back I don't even know how long.

Come on Beej, he's definitely not the only one on MR who is probably a good dude in person, but can be an ass on the board. Hell, I can think of at least 2 or 3 people that I have met from this board that I was sure I was going to smack the sh*t out of if I ever met them in person, LMAO, and ended up huggin it out instead.

Ok, now that we have that cleared up, let's get back to our regularly scheduled StocktonInMalone beat down.

I think Sean needs to stop playing the "mob" card all the time. That's fine, and has merit, when you're talking about the allegiances to Perry, Augeri, Soto or Pineda, but there's no "mob allegiance" around here when it comes to the topic at hand. And every time you get backed into a corner because you have some off the wall viewpoint, you can't conveniently claim mob conspiracy. Perhaps ... just perhaps ... you're the lone dissenting opinion because your opinion is fucking stupid?  And while I don't completely agree with him, I also think all of the hullabaloo surrounding his original post has been greatly exaggerated.

Now let's all give Sean a nice cyber hand job and move forward. Perhaps BJG would like to do the honors? Man, she's gonna kill me for saying that.
