I understood why Journey was doing the triple billing for the last several years, because they had to build their fan base back up and try to get acceptance from their original fans. Now that they finally have built a strong fan base again and have regained alot of popularity, its time to take the next step and tour on their own or with ONE band as an opening act. It seems like everytime they take one step forward, then they take three steps back. I can see putting a few smaller bands with Journey in the UK, because they are not as nearly as popular as they are in the United States. But come on the same old bands again!
Its time for Journey to continue on the tour format like they did last year with one band as an opening act like Boston, Pat Benatar, or a co headliner with a band like Chicago, Bryan Adams, or even Foreigner. No more triple bills! These guys are way better than this.
I love Pat and have seen her live many times snce the days when she was playing colleges in Delaware. The last five years, she has either headlined or co-headlined. I don't think Journey wants to co-headline with anyone, at least not in the states.
Heart was fine but all indications are Def Leppard has partnered up with them for next summer.
I don't think Boston has it in them to do a huge tour like what Journey is planning so I would X them out also. Also, if Tom and the boys can play a place like the Gibson Amphitheater by themselves, why be an opening act?
