I don't know, Dan....TMG never really got me excited. Pretty standard hard-rock fare all nicely played and stuff but no real hooks or melodies to get me interested... :?

I was kind of concerned about that too if they went their earlier heavy rock route. But hell, you try singing over 2 of the best shredders on the planet? I seem to recall Perry having issues withe Schon's guitar being too loud or something too at times? And we are talking Gilbert and Sheehan here, helloooo. IMO Martin is a better crooner than a rock screamer. I think he held his own just fine and does a helluva job considering. Besides, there is no overdubs on Eric, that is pure raw vocals. Not alot of magic done on this album, unlike some out there. I've read that's what Kevin Shirley was going for.....raw, live feel. I get it and I like it! :D And I've seen EM live enough times to know he's a helluva stand alone singer. And yes, he needs a trim. :P

Hopefully, that's not the finished product. Something as simple as putting the vocals out front a little more might fix it all. I'd certainly think the song would be better off that way. Kevin Shirley is very hit or miss. TBF was excellent and Revelaton sucked. And this seems to be closer to Revelation than TBF.

Now that I agree with. I know for a fact, he's still got tons of power and delivery in his voice, but you can see the strain a couple times in that. I love BS and PG's playing, but to me the vocals needed to be pulled forward a bit.

But either way, I know they are going to knock me on my ass, live! :D

Well, they're no U2, but ColdPlay always puts out good albums for their kind music. You have to be in the mood for his more melancholic vocals and solid songwriting.

Thoughts?

Honestly, I like it....there's one caveat - the music is great. The vocals, not so much...I keep saying these guys can't seem to write a catchy song.....and the streak continues..... :?

The whole album is very raw and live, Billy said very little overdub and Kevin Shirley wanted none on EM's vocals. Me likes raw and live. :P

Good God...I should be surprised by SJ's musical "reviews", but wait for the album and you'll hear Martin wailing with the best of them....as he has done many times before. He's one of the VERY best rockers I know.

Deb, just called the HOB box office. I asked him how many tickets have been sold. He can't be sure, but said it's between 100 and 125 so far. Don't know if they're going to sell it out or not.

I'm not sure what Mandy's problem is, but I'm talking about the one song that's posted. His vocals are weak and not at all out front.

There are ways to get the songs LONG before the CD drops....been doing it for YEARS. I usually get everything between 2 weeks-2 months early....so far, the hardest thing to get was the Nelson....

All kidding aside, I have to agree with you here. I am not at all impressed by his singing. Does nothing for me...doesn't grab the listener at all.

Mandy? I guess that's better than me calling him Andrea. Man, he hated that shit! He would blow a gasket on a nightly basis. Of course I laughed my ass off at his dismay. :D

But seriously, Nelson? Come on, was the new Kix album delayed? Maybe Adam Ant was busy doing a solo project and his disc was late coming out too.

Doesn't surprise me, a friend who goes to tons of shows told me the classic rock acts don't usually sell out until closer to. And considering it hasn't even really been announced yet, heck EM just recently put it on his website. Their new album hasn't even dropped yet, so I'll still say they'll sell out or close to by show time. :D Personally, I don't care if they do or not, less people to fight for front row. :P

I wouldn't be too concerned about fighting for the front row Deb.....shouldn't be too much trouble. The place only holds 600, maybe.

Doesn't surprise me, a friend who goes to tons of shows told me the classic rock acts don't usually sell out until closer to. And considering it hasn't even really been announced yet, heck EM just recently put it on his website. There new album hasn't even dropped yet, so I'm still saying they'll sell out or close to by show time. :D Personally, I don't care if they do or not, less people to fight for front row. :P

They're, not there.

I wouldn't be too concerned about fighting for the front row Deb.....shouldn't be too much trouble. The place only holds 600, maybe.

LOL, wrong.

LOL at both of you - how about their?

You hear that? That was the big fish Andrew taking the bait and running with Dan's line. Dude, he does this this just to piss people off. Have you not figured this out yet? :)

I'm not sure what Mandy's problem is, but I'm talking about the one song that's posted. His vocals are weak and not at all out front.

Grabs this listener. :D Funny how 99% percent of the women in the thread like it though. :P I like the song, the musicality and the vocals. I think it's a fresh kick in the ass from Mr Big, unlike some same-old same-old band's releases. :P
