Saint John wrote:The musicianship on that song is top notch and has great musical chemistry. Martin's vocals just do nothing and go nowhere, though. Ironically, I think this style would be perfect for Soto. Martin just can't belt out rock vocals. TMG was the closest he's come to good rock, but Blades seemed to be the right complimentary player. They were good as a team. As a stand alone singer, Martin can't seem to match the musicianship of that song.
I was kind of concerned about that too if they went their earlier heavy rock route. But hell, you try singing over 2 of the best shredders on the planet?

I seem to recall Perry having issues withe Schon's guitar being too loud or something too at times? And we are talking Gilbert and Sheehan here, helloooo.

IMO Martin is a better crooner than a rock screamer. I think he held his own just fine and does a helluva job considering. Besides, there is no overdubs on Eric, that is pure raw vocals. Not alot of magic done on this album, unlike some out there. I've read that's what Kevin Shirley was going for.....raw, live feel. I get it and I like it!

And I've seen EM live enough times to know he's a helluva stand alone singer. And yes, he needs a trim.
