The only thing New Years signifies is that you are one year closer to the grave.
Don, your new av is perfect!!!!!!!!! You ARE the Eeyore of the boards![]()
Eeyore is a little harsh ...but I agree!!
No no, not harsh! Eeyore is a very sweet and loved Pooh character! but he does love to spread doom and gloom!

I agree. But I usually say it in a nicer way than that.I just don't understand the point of doing it on Jan. 1st. If you're choosing to change something about yourself or make a big change in your life, what difference does it make if you do it on the first day of the year or the 132nd?
It's my belief that forcing yourself to do it because it's "New Years" is setting yourself up for failure, because you aren't ready. You're doing it because you've been thinking about it for awhile and then New Years comes along and you try to force yourself into a resolution. I've seen exactly ONE person in my life actually succeed at something they resolved for New Years.

So the possibility of Lynn's resolution
becoming a complete success, is practically nil ...thanks for the great news, sweet girl!!![]()

But if they fuck up the opportunity to tour with the Scorpions, it might dwindle to a mere 1 or 2. Do not fuck this opportunity up!!!

awe! Well then do you think that would work? Will everyone change, including Parfait, to accommodate me?? So this mean side doesn't have to surface?bluejeangirl76 wrote:Michigan Girl wrote:bluejeangirl76 wrote:Don wrote:Only retarded people would need to use a calendar to better themselves.

Not at all. Lynn's resolution was to change so that people will think she's nice, but Lynn is already nice. It's everyone ELSE that needs to change.

I'm with you, Mel. I think new year's resolutions are great. It's easy to track the day you started said resolution on, and it gives you a fresh start and clean slate. Sure, you could start them at any any time like a few have mentioned, but you could also buy presents, don them with Christmas wrapping paper and put a fucking tree in your house in June, but people save that for Christmas, just like people save resolutions for the New Year! Tradition, bitches!
Yeah, I think the idea is out with the old..in with the new. A new year, a fresh start. The whole Christmas season to me is a time to reflect, and from that comes ways to maybe better ourselves. Like how I will try to show less Grinch and a little more Cindy Lou Who!!Saint John wrote:Melissa wrote:Well I guess *I'm* retarded since I do have one resolution, and I DID stick to my one last year too, so I guess that makes me even more retarded![]()

Exactly, and last year's was a doozy and hard for me as you know, and actually didn't really work until later in the year as you know too, and I know I don't HAVE to wait until January one, I just am because I like Thanksgiving and Christmas treats, and so setting the goal any earlier to lose the 20# off my fat ass I need to wouldn't be too damn smart, now would it?
I want cookies for now, dammit
(which btw, did you make those ones you make every year yet? YUM!
) And just because some of us might set one little goal on New Year's just because, doesn't mean we don't better ourselves in any other way the rest of the year

But hey, if what I do doesn't work, then skinny bitches who eat foofy salads can gladly point at me and laugh... and then I'll get you to tell them to f*ck off for me

*and I used the star on purpose because I know that annoys the shit out of some people, so to stop annoying crap like that is NOT one of my goals this year!![]()
