Not everyone is going to be a multi-millionaire and have to worry about hiding them or removing them. There are successful lives to be lived tatts or no tatts, and there are low class losers in the world, tatts or no tatts.
You make a fair point about police, fire, and military people. First of all, they are of course successful people who deserve to be commended far more than they are for the dangerous and unappreciated jobs they do. But, they really are in a class all their own. In the general "corporate" professional world or political world, tattoos simply aren't socially acceptable.

It just sounds boring. I would not recommend any of my kids get tatts. They definitely won't under age. But if they do I'm not going to cry that now they have no chance for success. It's just not true. I worry more about my sons shitty grades right now and his success level than if he got a tat when he's 21! My husband and I don't have them. But I'd never judge anyone I know who does as unsuccessful or trashy. You have any friends with tatts? Do you feel this way about them?

Defeats no purpose. They have to "play the game" at work. They don't have to hide them at home in their personal lives. How many of us have habits or things we enjoy outside of work we might hide at work? I bet lots of people have something![]()
I figure it harms no one, so who cares. I don't get it either, cause I dont want needles stuck in me on purpose, but to each his own.

It does defeat their purpose. Considering that they probably got it to show it off , yet their pretty much forces to hide it 90% of the time , then it's a waste of time/money/skin/ink.
Now , if you're talking about the prisoners , they totally get their money worth , since the can and do show theirs off 99% of the time
It's not about the successful people being wrong for wanting to get tatoos , it's about the unwritten rules they have to follow. Which results in less and less successful people getting tatts, which proves Matts post.
I bet you , your boyfriend PeePee wouldn't get a tattoo on his softly lotioned urinbathed skin

I have friends with tattoos and I don't think a single one of them is really successful. Now I'm not saying that they'd be rich and successful had they not have the tattoos but what I'm saying us that , if they were successful , they wouldn't have their tattoos or if they did I wouldn't know about it.

But you LIVE in the boon docks!!! How can too many people be "upper classed" successful living there?? There aren't jobs there for that. The ones who get college degrees move to the cities where the jobs are. You know that highly paying jobs are few in rural areas. That doesn't prove anything really. Plus, I say again. Define success. If you can feed your family, put a roof over their head, and live a happy life, why can't you do that as a garbage collector with tatts, and be considered successful?? I don't measure success like you people apparently.
