Think about this...

Has there been any city in America that has had 3 or more of their sports teams either cheat or play dirty on a consistent basis in the last ten years as Boston has with the Celtics, Patriots and Red Sox?

There are certain organizations that are consistently dirty year in and year out. The Pittsburgh Steelers and the old Raiders teams have been notorious for dirty play year after year. However, to my knowledge Pittsburgh and Oakland/LA other sports teams don't consistently play dirty or cheat.

In the last ten to maybe even 15 years Boston is the only city in America that I can think of that has had 3 different sports teams all consistently play dirty or cheat.

There have been so many examples of cheating and dirty play in Boston over the last ten years that I can't even remember all of them.

If anyone on here can prove me wrong on that statement, then by all means give me some examples.

Just think back over the last ten years how many times a Celtics player has punched another teams player in the groin, or twisted another teams players thumb, or given another teams player a shoulder in the face/head. Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Glen "Big Baby" Davis have all been guilty of doing those types of things on multiple occassions.

If you think about Boston's sports teams in the last ten years you have to think about Tapegate, steroids, trash-talk and punching guys in the groin.

And that's not even counting Pedro Martinez's head hunting ten to twelve years back.

Totally agree....

moreover, I've never seen a sports fan-base that is more nasty and vindictively accusatory than massholes. It's never the fault of the boston player or franchise, but that of the the opposing team or more often than not, referee.

The phrase "we were robbed" should be something that is trademarked by massholes from state line to state line.

All one needs to do is count the youtube videos of various massholes complaining of referee interference from the 08 super bowl to yankees/boston 78 to the days of ted williams......and of course, the immortal date of 1918....the last world series won by that shithole city without the help of steroids...

The sports world would be far better off if that shithole dump of a city dropped off into the atlantic and had a beer with davy jones....

Go find me one clip on a Pittsburgh Steelers team who plays dirty that doesn't happen on any other football squad and I'll suck your cock. Tackling or making blindside blocks don't count since that's what's taught inside of the game because I can find 10 more of the same within the 32 teams who reside in the league who play the same way the Steelers do when it comes to tackles and hitting. Other than that, how are they dirty? Football is a dirty sport, plain and simple. We saw Ray Rice spit in the face of a Miami Dolphins defender, a Raiders defensive player knock the shit out of a quarterback with his bare fists, let alone seeing a Titans player STOMP on the others leg just a few years ago. That's dirty. All those PR stunts against Harrison and Pittsburgh this year came because of tackling the quarterback. People need to realize shit happens in football that's dirty. Every play. It's simply apart of the game.

Actually, it's not just John from Boston.

I'll keep things civil as long as everybody else does. Believe it or not, I'm not trying to goad anyone with this thread. I'm just sick of all of these dirty players on Boston teams always pulling that kind of crap. I don't approve of that type of behavior from any player on any team in any city.

I didn't grow up hating the city of Boston or all of it's teams.
I never have liked the Celtics because of a kid I knew years ago that was a huge Celtics fan strictly because he was a racist, and the Celtics had a reputation as being a racist organization.

I never had anything against the Red Sox or Patriots growing up. In fact I was rooting for the Patriots against the Rams in the 2002 Super Bowl.

It's just that starting in the late 90's I started seeing how obnoxious Red Sox fans acted at Fenway Park. They were even more obnoxious than Yankees fans at Yankee Stadium. Then I started seeing how arrogant most (But not all) Bostonians act in general. And there's all of the cheating and dirty play by the Celtics, Red sox and Patriots. It just keeps increasing more and more all of the time. Especially with the Celtics who are as dirty of an NBA team as I've ever seen. And I've been watching the NBA for over 30 years. I've seen the Pistons "Bad boys" team, these Celtics are worse.

Really? Boston was the first NBA franchise to draft an African American player, in 1950 - Chuck Cooper...and the first team to put an all black starting five on the floor.

Dennis Johnson, Robert Parish, Cedric Maxwell, Nate Archibald, Bill Russell, KC Jones, Quinn Buckner....etc. I wouldn't call the Celtics racist by any stretch....

I'll pass on the oral sex offer.

Every team is going to have a player that does something dirty every now and then, unfortunately.
But honestly, let's face it.... Hines Ward is as dirty of a player as there is in the NFL right now. I've known for several years now, and opposing players are starting to speak out about it, that Hines Ward waits until a player on the other team isn't looking so he can cheap-shot them. He does that on a regular basis.

James Harrison constantly goes after opposing players heads and then whines about having to pay fines for head hunting. There are always way to many Joey Porter (yes, I know, he's not with them anymore) types on the Steelers. If the Rooney family were these gods that the NFL seems to think that they are, then they would ship-out the low-life scum guys like Roethlisberger, Harrison and Ward. At least they did get rid of Santonio Holmes.

Again, I know that every team has some assholes on their team. But the Steelers seem to consistently have more dirty players than most other NFL teams.

Boston - more dirty than the Pistons of the 80s? I don't think so....

Here's Bill Laimbeer elbowing Mchale in the face, while another Piston(Adrian Dantley?) is yanking on his shorts..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Y0HnkDSFTk

And here's Laimbeer clotheslining Larry legend, then Parish laying the smackdown on Billy Boy....

So wait, you're calling BLOCKS dirty. You're calling TACKLING dirty. This league has been built to play like the way those players play. What you just described isn't dirty, it's LIFE in the NFL. Didn't Ray Lewis completley knock the absolute living FUCK out of a PUNTER one game, when he wasn't even anywhere near the play? I think it's funny people want to cry about a 35 year old WR in Hines Ward, all 200 pounds of him knocking out linebackers that outweigh him by 150 pounds moan about getting hit, whom is looking to knock that same wideout out of the game if he goes across the middle. The Rooney's are the league's most respected owners and do-gooder's of the NFL, always have been and put up with no bullshit. They dealt with their players and punished them when it was time and moved on (no coincidence that Roethlisberger and Harrison, scum in your eyes, were born and raised in Ohio.) But I don't blame you, I'd be bitter if I was anything Cleveland fan as well. All of their teams can't outplay children if they tried. 8)

Whether they are/were a racist organization or not, it was at least at one time the perception of most of the country that they were racist. That kid I knew years ago would always brag about how "They hate Nig**Rs on the Celtics." He may have been wrong about them being racist??? But he made it clear that that was why he liked them. And since I'm not racist, I didn't like the Celtics because of racists like him.

I don't think you should be a fan of the NFL if you hate blindside hits. I mean, this league is famous with working in a scheme for a crack-back block from a wideout on a linebacker or end! Go back and watch film on a simple kickoff. Guys flying around everywhere, getting hit when they aren't looking. It's what is taught. Coach's always said, if you don't know what you're doing, go after someone. They are simply taught to hit people. They get paid to do it. Blind-sides are football 101. Next thing you know, they'll out-law a QB's leftside/blindside because he "wasn't looking." James Harrison is one of the few players in this league that actually knows HOW to form tackle and drive a player back and slam his ass. Any other player these days fall at your knee's or ankles and risk a season/career ending injury. It's a very sad argument talking about hitting in a profession where you get paid to be brutal.

I used to be a big pro sports (& NBA) fan back in the 60s-70s before the introduction of mass integration of expansion franchises made following all the teams almost impossible. The Lakers and Celtics certainly were the class of the league, and somehow, it does seem like the Lakers were more racially mixed in their star power –JerryWest; Elgin Baylor, Wilt, GailGoodrich, while the Celtics had an aristocratic aura about them, playing on their spanky BG parquet floor. To be sure, they had an equal mixture of white/black star players –Bill Russell, John Havlicek, SamJones…but somehow, the perception is(was), their white players were treated better than their black players—by the fans and the local media.

I say this, because BR, having played college basketball at USF, was considered a local boy, so there was talk over the years that, as great a star as he is(was), and even as Player/Coach, BR never felt he was fully accepted in Beantown. In contrast, white superstars like Havlicek and, later, Larry Byrd and Kevin McHale, were hailed as superheroes and God-like.

Fair or not…I don’t think the perception of sports racism (or white elitism) ever gone away in that sports crazed town—of white sports figures being favored over black stars…across all their sports teams. Let’s see: (just throwing names out off the top of my head)
Baseball – Carl Yastremski (YAZ – Mr. Bosox)
Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez (couldn’t leave town fast enough)
Basketball – Already discussed
Football – Tom Brady (each year, Patriot fortune live and die with him)
Randy Moss (ditto – go already!)
Hockey – well, everyone is lily white…haha

 It’s late…I’m tired…I may be totally off-based with this…just following J/S line of thinking.

J/S, I don't see Boston sports teams as being dirty at all. Do I hate them? Absolutely. But the Red Sox run a 1st class organization, the Celtics too, and the Pats IMO are the best run sports team not called the Lakers and Red Wings that I have ever seen. The Bruins are almost too nice, and it shows.

I am not here to side with Sean, JFB or you J/S, but, I wish Los Anageles was half as successful as Boston is in sports. It would be nice to be able to go to a baseball game every summer night expecting to win-or head out of town (Foxboro), 20 miles every Sunday knowing you are going to win. Not us. Look, we have a shitty baseball team overshadowed by a big city divorce, a good basketball team, a trying hockey team and NO NFL team. Oh, our version of professional footballl got put on probabtion.

I believe the adage, "If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying, and it's only cheating if you get caught." I would do ANYTHING as an athlete, manager/coach to win, period.

More fucking nonsense from one of the biggest fucking jackasses this board has EVER seen! Check your fucking facts, Jamison boy! As S2M already pointed out, the Boston Celtics were the first team in the entire NBA to have 5 starting players who were all African-American. Their history is also well-known that all of their white players boycotted many venues in the south because of how Bill Russell was treated. Sorry dude, but you have your head completely up your ass, as usual. Stop sniffing Jamison ball bag and get a fucking clue! Now, if you want to call the Yawkey Era Red Sox racist, then I'm with you.

Are you out of your flippin' mind? Listen, I've been a die hard Red Sox fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper and I can assure you that there has NEVER been a more popular Red Sox player than Pedro Martinez...NEVER! The guy was the most dominant, pound for pound pitcher, in the history of MLB and Red Sox fans appreciated his immense talent and his outgoing personality. Pedro threw out a first pitch at one of the games last year and got a 10 minute standing ovation, so I'm not sure where you're dreaming this nonsense up! David Ortiz is also fan favorite. Even when he has slumped, Red Sox fans have always been fans of the guy. Manny is a completely different story, considering he physically attacked their senior citizen, traveling secretary. Even with that, Manny was treated VERY well during his years in Boston. The reality is that Manny simply couldn't play any longer, and considering that he's done absolutely nothing since leaving the Red Sox, I'd say Theo Epstein made the right call on that one!

S2M and JFB, please use the term "black" instead of "African American." Those dudes were not from Africa and it's simply incorrect to use that silly fucking terminology. Thanks in advance.

My dad, is a died in the wool republican, HATES the term African American as do I frankly. One day he said, why don't we call them American- Africans? It doesn't exactly flow, but he has a point. We're Americans first are we not?

Philadelphia.

We have a winner. NO City in this nation is more hostile than Philadelphia. The Eagle fans cheered loudly, while Dallas' Michael Irvin lay motionless on the turf at Veteran's Stadium. They threw snowballs, hard I may add, at Santa Claus! The Phillies fans taught the Giants fans to use Duracells as weaponry from the upper deck, while bombing opposing teams outfielders. I used to hate that city. I would call it a shithole, a toilet, a waste of space...until I flew overnight to catch Bruce's last ever show at the Spectrum. Man, what I saw was a passion that I have never before seen, including college towns. We all know college towns/crowds are much more passionate than pro teams. That said, the Phillies were playing the Dodgers at the time in the playoffs. My first morning there, Granny, my host(remember her), and her daughter took me to get a case of Molson Canadians for the concert that night. What happened to me was magical. We drive to the state liquor store...get this- it's a drive through! it was like the Tunnel of Love ride. You drive through this warehouse and all you see is beer on all walls, stacked in beautiful rows, just tempting you buy everything you see. I told the worker I wanted a case of Candian. Not only did I not have to get out of the car, the guy loaded it in our trunk for us! It was like Disneyland. I remember snapping pictures like a few Asians at the Small World ride at the happiest place on Earth. While paying, we engaged in sports talk. The guy I talked to asked where I was from and I said I flew overnight to see Springsteen and he fist bumped me. Told me to have a great time tailgating at the Spectrum but to watch the thieving 76er fans who would be walking through bruce's parking lot on their way to the neighbouring arena, Wachovia, where they were playing a preseason game against Boston. I laughed out loud and asked why are 6 er fans thieves and he said, "they're all black!" We laughed out loud and even cracked a brew while we sat there(there was nobody there. The guy answered my questions about Philadelphia sports and said that when the Eagles play at home, and they don't have tickets, they drive dowm to Lincoln Financial Field and tailgate in the parking lot anyways, listening on the radio, or watching TV which is hooked up to a generator. He told me that when the Birds play at Washington and the Giants, they all pile onto Acela for the 150mph ride to each city. He told me how he counterfeits his Amtrak tickets and I high fived him for that.

Before the Bruce show, the crowd was gathered and in walks none other than Joe Torre. Man, they let him have it. it was about 15 minutes to the start of Badlands, and the crowd starts chanting, "Let's go Phillies! Let's go Phillies!!" I looked over and saw Joe, who took it in stride. To my surprise, the Philly fans sitting around Torre were polite and not cussing him out and the like. He stood up and waved to the crowd. I couldn't tell who Joe was with, but it wasn't a player. During the show, Bruce calls out to Joe, and the crowd actually gives him a real nice ovation. Then Bruce also calls out to Charlie Manuel and Jason Werth, , who was also there! The place went nuts! So then they platyed a recorded version of the Phillie announcer doing play by play and he used Bruce as the batter, who then of course went yard in the 9nth to win a game..it was a nice little moment. So Werth comes down to the stage and Bruce asked him what song he wanted to hear, and Jason said "Rosalia." The place erupted and Jason sang backup. He had the long beard going and all that shit.

The next day, I found myself at a Philly sports bar, and man alive, the passion was intense. Cole was on the mound and even though he was dealing, Philly fan was all over him, nitpicking his location, choice of pitches, whatever. They won the game, I am telling you, NO city is sports crazed like Philadelphia. The only thing missing from that GREAT city is a college football team. Yes, they have Villanova for basketball, but if Philadelphia had a good football team to root for, OMG, it would be epic. If you ever have a chance to visit that place, definitely go!

Sorry for the ramble

If you would fucking read (If you can?) you would see that I said that whether it was true that the Celtics were a racist organization or not, that they had that reputation. Which they did.

In the summer of 1997 Pedro Martinez was begging the Expos to trade him to the Cleveland Indians. At that same time Curt Schilling was asking the Phillies to trade him to the Cleveland Indians.

When the Red Sox started talking about trading for Martinez, Martinez told the Red Sox to NOT trade for him because he wanted to go to Cleveland, and that if Boston traded for him he would NOT resign with them at the end of the season.

Well, the Red Sox did trade for Martinez, and once they overwhelmed him with a mammoth contract offer, he gave in and signed a long term contract with them.

What the fuck does that have to do with anything? With respect to my buddy Matt...who gives a fuck about Cleveland or any of their dog shit sports teams? It's always been a second class sports city. Fuck, even Lebron couldn't get out of there fast enough and the dude is from Ohio! Now that LeBron ditched you, you're back to toiling away in complete fucking obscurity! How about those fucking Cavs, eh? Enjoy the NBA playoffs
