Really? So when christians say that unless you believe..you are going to Hell.
Believers go to Heaven
Non-believers go to Hell
Going to Heaven is superior to going Hell
Therefore, Believers are superior to non-believers
A better fit there is prefereable, not superior. God would consider a saved believer superior, because that person contains his spirit, but the believer shouldn't see themselves as superior. More fortunate, if anything. We all know it doesn't always work that way, but hey... at least the intent is there.
Hell is probably the worst concept to be introduced to humans, and is another reason I can no longer believe. Always accepted it just as is, but once the faith started crumbling, Hell went tumbling into the pit with it. Take somebody who lives a simple, honest life, and devotes it to the betterment of other people. That person has a chance to get 'saved' and kindly doesn't accept. So they deserve eternal torment and damnation? Never ending? It's the reason so many churches go really light on the Hell stuff these days. I was joking from someone who works at a Methodist church the other day, when he was talking about having to send collection notices to some music students who weren't paying their dues. I told him I'd write him some which said, "You're not only stealing from the Music Program, you're stealing from Jesus and your going to Hell!" He started cracking up and said, "Nooooooooooo, no no no.... We don't teach that stuff! We'd run everybody off!" LOL!
PLease don't get wrapped up in a word, Rip. Preferable, for all intents and purposes, means the same as superior. Why would something inferior be preferable? People prefer things that are better, for the most part. Would you rather travel to see Dokken, or Night Ranger? My guess is that you would prefer to go see Dokken because you find them better than NR....
