Knowing what a big fan Randy is of Perry, I doubt it. Imagine Arnel coming out on stage; people would be like "Who is this, a secret contestant?" The finale is the same week of Eclipse's release. Imagine the new album having to compete with Journey's Greatest Hits, which would probably see a nice bump up the album chart from its usual mid range position.

I'm pretty sure a few of those songs are assigned to Deen already. With shorter setlists because of the three band package and a concerted effort to play at least four songs fronm Eclipse, that doesn't leave much room for ROR songs to suddenly return to the stage.

Interscope music handles all the releases for the show, so if James version of DSB is released it would be under their label.
Remember when Kiss did the finale with Lambert, the didn't even get to say one word, did they? Just come out and sing one of their classics and that's it.

The advisors are usually well known vocalists as it is American Idol, not a group competition. As far as singing new music, I would think not, unless it's a new artist the show wants to promote. Idol's goal is to promote the contestants, not the mentors. Only J-Lo gets to promote new stuff.
