Rubbish.
And to say the album was written for JSS is laughable!
Once and for all get your head (ears) out of your ass and LISTEN. The vocals are weak and that is a fact. Soto would've KILLED on these songs. The only songs you can HEAR Arnel clearly are the slow songs. He can not provide the heavier vocal to match the instruments.
But we all know , you're always right and our opinion are always rubbish to you , Adolf.
I know you are only trying to stir the pot. Not taking the bait.
Dude, check yourself.
For starters, you dropped "rubbish." Who the fuck says "rubbish" and isn't a limp wristed faggot from London? Jon Waite perhaps? He sucks cock anyway.
2nd, you are tone deaf. From the tunes I have heard, IMHO, they deliberately muddied Pineda's vox in the mix....NO WAY would that ever ever, I mean ever happen if Perry were in this once great band. I sincerely believe this album is a showcase of Schon's guitar work, and the vocals just kind of come along for the ride. This record is Schon's, not Journey's. I am being serious as a dick in the ass too.

Yeah, there is something keeping the vocals back. They're not out where every syllable is crystal clear. Neal is more the big thing you can fix on, not the voice.

Not really a fair comparison, Don. Firing members, changing the 1 word album theme, liquidating assets and being a completely out of control, 80 proof asshole is a bit different from demanding a harder direction with an emphasis on guitar, rather than the usual keyboard driven albums.

It's not a criticism of Eclipse at all. I'm talking about the musical ability to alter a group's sound to match one person's vision.

My issue with the songs is quite simple - the songs don't go anywhere. There's no build-up. Meaning that there ends up being no crescendo. Just Arnel singing, and Neal doing his best Vinnie Vincent.
The songs are plodding....boring, and don't grab me at all. I can stomach a couple of them. But I wouldn't purposely play a track off this release due to a craving for this formula....

Fair enough, but I still maintain that a collective vision for a band is ok, but a personal agenda isn't.

He does have a point. Even the catchy tunes like Anything is Impossible never really arrive anywhere and when it ends you're like, that's it?

So, does everything have to have a destination or go somewhere? It's music and I guess I don't get that expectation.

For the average Journey fan, yes it does. Not everyone is interested in change as the constant presence of the Dirty Dozen in each evening's setlist can attest to.

Are you guys for real? That's an amazing song and the most classic melodic Journey track of the whole album.
