Are you guys for real? That's an amazing song and the most classic melodic Journey track of the whole album.

I really think Someone is the song that holds that distinction.

I like Tantra, but it requires a certain mood. It seems Disney-esque, or something like that....or meatloafish in places.

Good. They might get clogged up and prevent you from hearing anything more to complain about. Go play it again. Loud.

I almost expected BONO to pop in and start singing at any moment. It fatigues me for some reason. I have shuffle set and when She's A Mystery started, I was like "It's finally over? Great, back to the good jams!"

No offence to the 'average Journey fan', but screw the average Journey fan! I love dark and mood records and I love that guitar is all over this record and the song structures aren't predictable, nor familiar. Play an old Journey album if that's what you want. We don't need the same stuff over and over.

This album is bold and ballsy and I'm loving it....still...

I love it.Good to see Neal boldly push the band in a harder direction.I will definitely be buying this one.Glad that we don't have a lot of Cain influence on this one.Bet there were a few struggles between Jon and Neal over this harder influence on this album.

Which is all well and good. But when your audience which you know doesn't want to hear it, walks out on the new stuff don't cry about it and further ruin a perfectly horrible spray tan.

All I had to see is the color of the review. I 'knew' you were gonna rank it higher than W.E.T., or Whitesnake.... :? :P

Did your complimentary copy come with a tube sock, or petroleum jelly?

Puck you! ;)

Seriously, the more I listen to this album, the more I realize about it. If you are a track skipper, you won't get it. If you play a song for 2 minutes, you won't get it.
Most of the magic on these songs happens way after the 2 minute mark, some after 3.
This is an amazing work and I'm still a bit stunned. I've been dissecting it for about 5 hours. It keeps getting better. :D

The problem with this album: It's deeper than the average Journey fan. Many won't get their head around it.

Andrew, I read it and I love it. This album should not bring out the usual Perry vs. Pineda arguments. It's not about that.
Really refreshing stuff. I'm looking forward to what people say, once they hear this. This album brings Journey into a new
age and most likely a newer audiance. It stands well on its own with its modern sound. Great musician ship and the band
seems very cohesive. I'm gonna warn you guys now.....Cain will get revenge on the next album. :P

I like Tantra, but it requires a certain mood. It seems Disney-esque, or something like that....or meatloafish in places.

Considering I am a bit of a Disney fanatic, I suppose that might explain why I love the song so much.

But personally, the best comparison I can think of, sonically at least, is something along the lines of Queen or as you said, Meat Loaf. Just that big "WAY OVER THE TOP" sort of sound Tantra has.

Seriously, aside from pretty much most of the entire score of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I can't think of anything Alan Menken ever cooked up that really had that sort of feeling.

I agree. Tantra, from what I've listened to of it so far, feels a lot like a Queen ballad. Very cool.

I have to concur with this. While I myself have been skipping around the songs (I intend to do a full-on start to finish listen through next week when I get the physical CD  ), I make sure I listen to the entirety of all the songs. Seriously, the best part of She's A Mystery doesn't happen until about four and a half to five minutes into the song, for example. You have to listen to the songs start to finish to get the songs.

And I definitely believe it's deeper than what the average Journey fan expects from the band.
