The store that I went to here in the Cleveland area had 65 copies of Eclipse out on the shelf. I'm gonna guess that there were probably around 40 copies of the Lady Gag-Gag CD on the shelf.

No you're not, Trav; I'm old school. The release date is the release date; hitting Wally World up on the way to work tomorrow.

I got to hear the cuts played live in Vegas, and I sampled the official samples, but that's it. Waiting on that actual disk, open road, and the sunroof ...

The packaging is absolute crap, and my first disc already has a couple of scuffs from storing it there a few times. The cardboard sleeve approach seems to be popular with Wal-Mart releases, and I HATE it. The latest KISS and Foreigner discs were the same. It's pushing me toward digital faster than any other factor.

I have some generic plastic cases and I'm gonna see if I can make the covers fit. Better that, than sliding the disc into that cardboard.

I agree about the cardboard sleeves. I recently ordered from Amazon a Seal CD I had scratched, his 2004 album. And, shockingly, it came in a sleeve, when none of his other music, even older, does. And every time I slide it back in there I feel like I'm ruining the CD.

The little booklet inside the cardboard crap cover fits inside a regular cd case just fine, I did that with mine. Just won't have the side reading the band and album name, but oh well.

I'm sure the band will issue a statement forthwith, explaining how the cases were a direct result of them trying to give you, their fans the best deal possible and help save the planet at the same time.

Journey isn't just a world band, you know; they're a green one also.

Eh, I don't know if I buy that excuse, if they use it anyway, as being the best deal for the money by having it packaged like that. There are plenty of cd's out there at the same price or lower with those plastic cases still. This is packaged like a freaking bar of soap

After the disc starts to skipping in a week, you're gonna be wondering if it's the cardboard's fault. You did the best thing getting it into that plastic case.

I've learned in tech-class that most people always thought that the skipping of the CD was apart of the "shiny" side but it's really the top interface that can't be damaged. I know the shiny part holds the partitions of the music and its line of music written to its data but that could be easily cleaned.

I think so too, lol. I don't know how true this is, but I remember reading once that the reason cd's come in the plastic the way they do, and the way they are kind of suspended on that ring, is because they're not supposed to be stored with something touching that side.

Why not rip it onto a 10 cent CD-R and leave the original in the cheap packaging on the shelf? That's what I'd do if I bought it.

It's so thin that if you put it between other cd's in your collection, it will flatten and disappear between them

They sell empty jewel cases at Wal Mart for cheap; folks prob should just pick one up along with Eclipse. But this seriously sucks for them to be saving 10 cents or whatever the actual cost of a case is by using crap cardboard.

That's a good idea...

I wish this was packaged like Revelation...say what you want about the cd, but that was a great package for $11.88

I will bet you that Walmart execs studied the costs of making this "sleeve" and determined that the 10 cent decision would save that corporation tons of money. I have never seen a cost conscience operation in my lifetime. Maybe that's why they net 22,00 dollars every second their doors are open, IDK. Either way, this just shows how cheap Journey the organization is. I am sure they had some sort of veto power on THEIR Intellectual Property. Many other artists who do the Wally deal choose plastic cases. This is disappointing.

That's not at all funny. That is genius! Go break open one of those 10 pack disc case packages and simply offer one to each customer who wants to buy this cd. That is absolutey brilliant.

Absolutely; Sam Walton was the king of the 10 cent margin on mammoth sales volume. Only works, though, if you maintain minimum quality standards that the buying public will accept.

I agree with you up until the waning last sentence- the public will buy whatever Walmart tells them too won't they? Does not the price dictate or influence in a heavy way, buyers decision? Add to that this product is ONLY available at a Walmart store. Sammy's got you on Eclipse.
