After hearing the clips(amazon) I knew this was not going to be something I would run out and purchase right away, and oddly enough when Drew had his clips up, I went from possibly liking 3 songs to possibly liking 2

(I know i was a bit shocked myself). I'm still at 2 songs and think that the instrumental on the last cd is better.
I also agree with Beshad that there are parts of certain songs where Arnels voice doesn't seem to fit well, City of hopes chorus is good but the lead up to the chorus just leaves me not wanting to even wait to hear the chorus (strange and disappointing for a "journey" song)
I think its great they experimented, but maybe they experimented just a little too much.
Good reviews from both Journey/Survivor & yulog.
However, I don't understand on how the last album,
Revelation, people stated that after listening to "Never Walk Away" that the band has become nostalgic and their lack of "creativity" has become very lazy and non-inspirational since it was a knock-off of "Be Good To Yourself."
Journey's
Revelation sure did catch a lot of people by surprise but it sounded like a Journey album they've put out over their lifelong existence ever since the Perry-era kicked off. A Rocker-type, feel good anthems ever so slightly transforming into the next track of a ballad of a full range of emotion and guitar/piano rifts that subdue you only to spring you back up with another fast paced song on that very next track that mess's with your emotions like a roller-coaster. That's the nostalgic Journey sound.
The fans screamed for creativity, a year of absence from touring to work on an album that needs to be different with a fresh but now experienced new lead singer and not the same 'ol same 'ol but yet, they are now experimenting TOO much. I don't understand what the perfect 100% formula Journey needs to follow to really soar. I didn't listen to
Eclipse yet so I can't really have an opinion just yet.
