Thanks everyone for the positive vibes.
The doc at Duke Voice Center gave me the green light for this weekend. No damage to the vocal cords, in fact they still look pretty much the same as they did at my last exam in 2009.
When he heard about my schedule over the past 2 months he freaked out though. 3-4 shows back to back for 8 weeks, 2 hour shows with no set breaks, 8-10 hour drives between shows and being home for only hours a week really takes it's toll. Aside from the fatigue on my vocal cords, the injury I had thought occurred was a laryngospasm that sent my vocal cords into an arrhythmia, which meant that whenever I tried to sing they just flapped around out of sync, thus making me sound like an wispy voiced old woman. It took the time off to give them rest and get them back to doing their job...
Moving forward, we won't be able to maintain that kind of schedule, but it was a good wake up call. Hope to meet/see some of you at some upcoming shows!
