Vicious as far as Superman. He'll take action at a much higher risk. Superman the character won't be brooding like Batman, but what will be going on around him will be much more darker to a sometimes florescent character. Going to make for an interesting screening.
I'm not much of a comic reader, but I know enough about Superman to understand that his optimism and general idealism are integral to his character. I don't mind making him morally fallible (heroes who don't slip up aren't interesting), but I hope Nolan and co. don't succumb to the emo-drenched masses and indulge this overused trope.
Cavill mentioned numerous times that his Superman and the script that asks from Cavill will follow the standard and legacy of the Superman character and will abide by that character by all means. Superman is Superman, you can't change that. He's going to be a bright character at heart in midst of a more intense crisis around him. Last movie we had Superman weeping and looking through windows and getting his abrupt ass-kicked in the only major fight scene. It's about time we see a Superman movie explore the un-touched possibilities that was never met with the character. ACTION and good story.
