Then why the personal attack? And don't try saying it wasn't, go back and read it again. And why always so negative.........maybe you could answer me one question? I can totally understand debating differing opinions but why, when anybody posts anything remotely positive about JSS or about one of his shows, you always feel the need to come in and piss all over it and start trying to invalidate his attendance, sales, popularity, etc. You seem to be the only one concerned about the attendance at his shows (that you don't go to) as obviously his fans don't or they wouldn't be there. Those stats may be important to how you chose your music, but have absolutely NO baring on how I chose mine (otherwise I'd be travelling to see Lady Gaga or Justin Beiber shows  ), so save yourself the time and keystrokes.

I did and still don't see it. You've been harping about how I choose my music by "stats" but when I counter that you tour for hugs and saliva you don't seem to like it. I find neither to be true but you complaining seems highly hypocritical to me.

Deb wrote: why, when anybody posts anything remotely positive about JSS or about one of his shows, you always feel the need to come in and piss all over it and start trying to invalidate his attendance, sales, popularity, etc.

Perhaps it's just a natural reaction, but when I see people making wildly erroneous assertions I feel the need to point them out. JSS isn't "huge" anywhere. And while I know that "huge" is a subjective term, people here would want you to believe that he could pack in 10,000 people by himself. He can't. But if he could, he'd be "huge."

Also, remember how Journey was "done" and how Soto was better off without them because he would "soar" (his word not mine)? The band isn't done and he has yet to "soar," though he has pulled a nice gig soloing for TSO. I was the bad guy way back then, but sometimes being right is all that counts.

Deb wrote:You seem to be the only one concerned about the attendance at his shows (that you don't go to) as obviously his fans don't or they wouldn't be there.

I don't go to his shows? I've seen him perform 4 times! It's just that I can go without claiming that he's "singing as well as Perry ever did" (Deano quote that went untouched ... except by me) or that "he's bringing back all the Perry diehards," which was wildly inaccurate.

Deb wrote:Those stats may be important to how you chose your music, but have NO baring on how I chose mine so save yourself the time and keystrokes.

Here you go again ... dishing it out, but when *I* make an equally wild assertion (but probably far more accurate, relatively speaking) that you travel in hopes of groping someone whose work you admire or catching a little saliva, you get salty.

I commented on your choices, you attacked my character. 14 yo living in a 40 yo's body? Simultaneous mini seismics south of the border? If you had ever been to any shows that I have you would see I'm not the fawning all over them groupie type, I'm actually kind of shy and I respect their space and for the most part wait to even speak until approached. Do I enjoy meeting them when they interact with their fans? Of course. And if they want to dish out a hug, all fine by me..........hell, I think I'm a pretty damn fine fan to have. :D

I share some videos, pics, reviews and opinions from some recent shows of a favorite rock band that finally re-united after 15 years, this is a melodic rock forum isn't it? Didn't think that was frowned upon? Obviously I'm not the only fan of theirs here, or that MB thread wouldn't be 12 pages long, I wasn't talking to myself. But ya know what, these sparrings used to be all in fun, but I feel it has become more of an attack from you, so how about if I continue to attend and enjoy my fave live shows.........and we just don't interact on the board at all anymore, we'll just ignore each other's posts. Deal? :?

I most certainly did not. I commented on what people might "perceive," judging by most of your avatars and pictures. A personal attack would be more direct, specific and accurate.

You hypothesized "what someone coming on here for the first time might think" and so did I. Seems fair to me. Besides, is that really any sort of insult?

Hyperbole

1. obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2. an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”

Please show me where I had a problem with you sharing videos, pictures, reviews and opinions? I think I have one post in the Mr. Big thread and it had to do with confirming something Deano stated.

No one's asking you to stop enjoying anything, Deb. And your fictitious "attacks" claim is just silly. You took a post of mine that is several weeks old and decided to speculate what "people coming here for the first time might think" of me. You then erroneously claimed that I have attacked Soto in the past, when in fact I have not. Not ever. I responded to your wild assertions with a few of my own, prefacing them as such, a luxury you didn't afford me, and now you're crying foul, playing the "attack" card.

Spin it anyway you want, bottom line, ya hurt my feelings by comparing me to 'a 14 year old groupie who only goes to live concerts in the hopes of groping the band.' We don't have to be friends Dan, but I thought there was a little bit more respect there than that. My comment to you was about your consistant negative Soto/Perry posts that could come across like.....'what the heck did they ever do to you?'

I don't recall claiming you personally attacked Soto, I simply stated that you do continually come in and piss on any positive posts about him with comments about his stats/attendance/popularity. It's not an erroneous claim it's a fact. And I don't see you doing it continually with other artists that people post positively about. My question to you was why mainly Soto. I guess I just don't get it, we don't all have to like the same artists/bands and I just don't feel the need to piss all over anybody else's favorites on a constant basis.....what would I get out of that????

:? SJ… with a few exceptions, posters and lurkers on these forums are mostly strangers, and perception is everything. The insults/innuendos that you persist in using when you get into one of your tangents are personal attacks, pure and simple. You are a very intelligent person, and you do not need to use lowball tactics in your debating style.

Let me use an analogy you’ll understand. Let’s say you’re making out with a gal(or guy) and you think she(or he) likes it rough. All is well and good if the 2 of you want the same thing. But, if she(or he) puts up resistance and tells you to stop, then you should refrain lest it be rape. Get it now?

People that know and have met you all say you’re a nice guy. But your internet persona sucks (imo). Now try to disagree without throwing some crude remark my way. I will be here for the next few nights.

Not sure I see how stuff Saint John brings up periodically are more offensive or personal than the open season that exists on Schon's character, Cain's character, Pineda's speech, Schon's personal/love life, divorce agreements, etc, etc... :?

No worries. For some reason he's got his issues with Soto (and Perry) and guess I'll never change that. He just caught me on a bad day, it's my stupidity for even letting him get under my skin with his insults/negativity trying to cheapen or taint what was a very fun MB experience for this fan.........no Biggie, pun intented. :D

Excellent point.

These are messageboards for and about the band. Surely, it's to be expected for the fans, pro and con, to be critiquing bandmembers, past and present...good or bad. Insults and mischaracterization directed toward and about another poster in debate to score points is not the same thing. You guys don't see anything wrong with that?

I'm not trying to be Ms. Policewoman. Just posting an opinion, like any other poster...FWIW.

There's no open season. If anyone gets on a relentless rant about anyone, they will be shut down. Manners is all that is needed.

Maybe because HE was the one who turned it personal. Hell, we've argued and debated our differences in music/bands/artists since the dawn of time here and I think that's fine......but it doesn't need to turn into personal insults. I asked a question about why always Soto and commented that he chose his music by popularity/stats (for pete's sakes I get razzed about my music choices all the time, no biggie), he then proceeded to go on a rant comparing me to a 14 year old groupie in a 40 year old's body and on and on, etc. I like a good debate as much as the next person, but lets keep it about the music/bands/artists, etc.

I've never ONCE cried to or pm'd Drew on anything, I'm sure he can vouch for that. And of course fans of each artist are going to stick up for them. I've stuck up for Arnel a couple times myself, and well.....Neal and Cain have their own fans to stick up for them too. Messageboards are to discuss and debate music/bands/artists.......no need to insult/attack each other in that process tho.

Whatever Joepa, snark it out anyway you want, anybody that knows me and I've been at shows with, knows I'm not the type of fan to invade any artists space. Both JSS and EM know I'm a big fan of their music and enjoy the live shows.......they are both warm/friendly, down to earth, normal joes.....who sometimes greet their fans with a hug, of course I'm going to reciprocate. :?

I see Joepa's point ...although, technically, if Deb didn't cry to Andrew,
she's not controlling the hammer. Deb has always held her own w/SJ and
vise versa ...neither one needing input/help from us ...so the question/comment was
directed at Andrew, right?!? Because SJ isn't here to ask him himself?!?
