"A man loved for what he has; has nothing " S2M

He has only himself, therefore he has Nothing !

But that nothing is not the conceptual nothing the mind thinks it is, he is No-thing. Things are of the world, impermanent, but you being No-thing are always beyond impermanence. 8)

What I was getting at with my quote is that a man who is loved for the material things that he has....in fact, has nothing. The material things are worthless, thus is the love he gets from having them.

The response is spontaneous and impermanent, the one perceiving this, all of This..... That IS Permanence. Things that come and go are indeed worthless. Is perceiving coming and going or is it in fact the perceived that is coming and going. :)

Yep.

My advice on this is to let people believe what they want to believe. Respect their beliefs, because they are different from yours. If everyone believed the same about everything, nobody would have anything to talk about. We would just sit around nodding our heads.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Exactly. Other people's beliefs has no effect on what I believe. Are there some whacko's that go overboard? Of course, but as George Carlin says, pray to Joe Pesci for all I care, has nothing to do with me, haha. It's when people of religion threaten me on where I'm going to go when I die like they've witnessed it first hand. Fear isn't the option in my eyes. Other than that, use your freedom of thought as you must!

So what your saying is the religion is the problem? Or the lack of tolerance?

I have no problem with atheists. I only have a problem with those of no tolerance.

Religion is the common denominator in such debates and emotion. Even for an atheist, their beliefs stem from not believing in a God, whichever one being the case so the connection is coming from one powerful emotional structure. Not saying it's the problem, just that atheism and religion go hand in hand with one another whether to believe or not to believe. Religion is the root, which cause's serious division and that's very dangerous in how you paint a picture out of someone, which, IMHO, is the one glaring problem in it all.

Its one big game, the dance of life and its going nowhere, there is no destination....... this is it right here. Enjoy the dance of Life.

The best musicians are not the ones that know all the theory or get to the end of the song first, if it was we would have very short songs indeed. Its about the music only the music.

EXACTLY! This thread reminds me of a dog chasing it's tail.

I believe in God. I'm not ashamed to admit that I believe in God. I pray to God many times each day. I know God exists and I know that he has blessed me in so many ways and helped me through some very rough times. My beliefs do not hurt anyon. Nothing anyone says is going to change my beliefs and I don't expect that anything I say will change theirs. If S2M (or anyone else for that matter) doesn't believe in "the wizard in the sky" so be it. His beliefs don't hurt me and mine don't hurt him. It hardly seems worth anyone's time or energy to continue to debate it.

That's not it at all. There is nothing more powerful to somebody than their belief whether one believes in what you believe or not. One of the most fascinating mysteries and debates will be that of God. It's interesting to hear everyone's take on the topic. It can go in a wild array of directions, as seen in here. It's a sensitive matter for everybody only because the thought of being judged is on the line and nobody likes being judged. Like I said, that's the glaring aspect of it all, being judged by who you are for what you do or do not believe in, especially something that isn't remotely proven but yet, such a vicious state of emotion is involved. Mysterious to say the least and interesting. Please, continue!

Of course! Looking at it logically, though, Superman is a fictional character written by mortal men, like me and you! A character developed to play to our emotions of humanity and our illusion of fantasy of what it might be if there was a higher power of a different being protecting and looking over upon us! Sound familiar? I have 70 some years of proving how Superman exists! I even have pictures to prove it!

Absolutely! And if I had to pick between worshiping the two fictional (or at least, fictionalized) characters, I'd seriously have to go with Supes over Jesus for sheer coolness.

Batman is NOT a super-hero. Just a millionaire able to afford top of the line gadget's who trained at the peak of every form of karate. Being a detective isn't a form of a super-hero since that doesn't qualify as a superpower. What does Batman do in the day time anyhow? :? If there truly was a time where a team needed to be created to end an Apocalypse in the Multiverse, Batman would be the last to be picked and used to stay back manning the Bat-walkie talkies!
