That is one of the better tracks I've heard with JSS. I was not a big fan of him in Journey but he does well on ATL. It sounded like there was a lot of background vocals on the track towards the end. Was Deen up in the mix as well? It was hard to hear who was singing what.

In any event, JSS is a good stage leader and has great stage presence. He's good to study.

Some canned stuff happened, but Jeff bailed those fuckers out at their lowest point. Believe me on this, Jeff was the most legit frontman before and since Perry, with no disrespect to Steve A or A.P.

No, it's not Perry. I am friends with the Yamaha keyboard rep for the entire eastern half of the U.S. and he lives in Nashville. He is really good friends with a studio guy in Nashville who spent a lot of time working for Journey in the studio (before the Soto era) recording backing vocals for the tours. I was shocked when I heard it! You can't believe ANYTHING you hear coming out of those main speakers anymore.

I thought JSS was good on the clip shown. I was at Indy when Journey performed with JSS and he was laughed at during the show. In Indy, he was a laughingstock, there wasn't any fingers involved other than the middle one.

Shit JSS moved around on the stage in that one song than Augeri did during all 3 of the concerts I saw him perform with the band combined.

I saw Soul SirkUS on their debut gig in Allentown and JSS fucking owned that stage and the crowd. One of the best front men I've seen in concert.

I like every lead singer of Journey...but JSS is my favorite live replacement.

I'm still curious about what a JSS fronted J album would sound like (intrigued by "Believe in Me" and ignoring "Winds of Freedom").

This opinion is strengthened by Perry's remarks in 'Drew's interview about thinking he provided the band the greatest opportunity for growth.

Like all great frontman, Jeff brought out the best in the band and the crowd. Not sure how long he could have lasted on the road. Even here, the way he switches from chest voice to falsetto makes me nervous. A song like DSB would simply be out of his depth.

What if Deen did Perry's part and JSS did Rollie Just a thought...the energy JSS brought to the stage made a difference. I know that is kindda weird but it seemed like the band was into the songs more with JSS and they had an "Edge" to them...it was a feeling thing and it was totaly opposite when I saw the tour this year there seemed to be a disconnect between the band. AP was the only one moving around..this is all just my thoughts and what I would have liked to see.

I was gald SA brought Journey back and was very excited to have JSS in the band.. Im having a hard time getting into the AP lead Journey

I don't dig the AP era at all. Like you said, the whole thing feels boring and sterile. Honestly, I have a very critical ear when it comes to listening to music on CD (I play a little guitar so I know a little more about dissecting music above what a casual listener would do), but when it comes to live shows I almost ALWAYS just end up enjoying things even if I notice some warts. In other words, I hardly ever come home and say "That was a 'bad' show." But, I truly feel like the (substantial) money I spent to see Journey this year was one of the bigger wastes of money I've ever dropped on a concert. Foreigner and Night Ranger were great, but Journey left such a sour taste that trumps good performances by the other two.

My feelings EXACTLY while I didnt drop a ton of $$ ( $50 tixs) I was going to get really good seats. instead I took my son ( 5 years old) he became a fan of DSB.. It was getting late and he was getting tired. My wife hated Journey and I have dragged her to about 10 concerts. We listeded to the last few songs from the concession area and headr DSB on the way out....Just wasnt the same for me this year. not sure I would spend $$ again to see Journey live. I have ben going back listening to old boots with Perry/SA and JSS latley. One thing is for sure I want to see NR do a full set I have always been a fan and they needed more time...I the Shaw/Blades accostic tour about 4 years ago. They had one other guitarist and just them on stage it was GREAT. Always liked Jack Blades.

He's a very husky voiced singer so I have wondered about that as well. His voice sounds rough on most of his own stuff and really wasn't suited for this. By rough I don't mean terrible- it's the JSS sound and I like it. He's an amazing frontman and the new material would have been great , it's just that the dirty dozen wouldn't sound too cloned vocally on tour.

...and yes...Journey would have a new life with THIS SP FAN - IF they kept JSS and recorded new material with him.
