Terrific, particularly for its genre. Cruise is criminally underrated anymore, thanks to his off-screen antics.

I hope Sherlock Holmes 2 is better than the first one. I hated the whole premise of turning SH into a stud action figure, with a hot girlfriend. Totally ruined it for me. I also found the first version to be very dark and difficult to see half the movie. I'll probably wait for it to come to pay-per-view to watch it.

I'm off work tomorrow so my husband & I are going to see "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo". The books were terrific and the characters very compelling. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'll give my review tomorrow.

He was actually a skilled fighter even in the novels, but that's a fair point.

yea, by far the best of the MI series, and probably one of the best action films I've seen in the last couple of years. It's worth it for the Dubai sequence alone. Haven't seen Sherlock yet--maybe tomorrow.

I agreed with everything you said. The entire sequence in Dubai had me at the edge of my seat, which is something very few action flicks can say.

Sherlock 2 is a mess. The film was rushed into production and it shows. Robert Downey acting zany cannot save a movie alone. The first one wasn't Conan Doyle, but it was fun and had enough of a story to keep it together. This one is just one big action setpiece after another. MI4 is solid. About as good as MI3, but it runs out of steam by the last act.

Seen the swedish version of this. I would have a hard time seeing the american version. The swedish version was perfectly cast, and it was shot entirely in sweden. Plus I think Daniel Craig is one over rated actor. He needs to let Bond go also, totally destroyed the image. As far as Sherlock Holmes 2, haven't seen it and probably won't. The first one bored me to a near death experience and it won't happen again. Looking forward to Ghost Protocol, Tom Cruise is still one of the best in the business imo.

Just saw the movie this afternoon. I thought it was excellent. It was very faithful to the book, and the opening credits using Trent Reznor's version of Led Zepplin's "Immigrant Song" was musically and visually stunning. Almost worth the price of admission alone. Rooney Mara is riveting as Lizbeth Salander. Most of the movie was filmed on location in Sweden. Having seen Daniel Craig in action roles like James Bond and Cowboys and Aliens, I wasn't sure how he'd do in the role of Mikael Blomqvist. I thought he gave a good performance, but Ms. Mara is the real star of this film. I'd give it a 7 out of 10.

Did you see the Swedish version? If not, The girl who was cast a Salander in that one was perfection. They also made "The girl who played with fire". Check it out.

Not yet although I definitely want to see it. I've heard many good things about the original Swedish version.

They made all three (including "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest"), and all are on Netflix streaming. Loved the first, and about to watch the 2nd.

Too many fights, too much crap blowing up, too much bromance between Holmes and Watson. Decent acting though and some amazing sets ... loved the waterfall castle.

Saw MI4 yesterday! Enjoyed it as much as the last one. I've never been a huge Tom Cruise fan, but you can't deny his talents, especially in these movies. I wondered how much of his own stunts he's doing in this one. I know he's into that.

Yea, waterfall battle was a great conclusion, if only the movie that preceeded it was any good. Both Moriarty and Mycroft were well played.
