Precisely why the move makes ZERO sense. If he came to New England, it certainly wouldn't be to play QB (which would probably be a good thing). I also don't see any team trading for Tebow, given that every team in the league knows that Denver is now going to be forced to cut the guy. Why give up players or draft picks for a guy who is ready to hit the open market, and a guy who simply can't play the position that he was drafted to play!
conversationpc wrote:I think he COULD play the position given the right circumstances...He's a momentum guy, judging by his good play throughout the 4th quarter of games this year. If someone put him in a no-huddle type offense or something like that, he could be SERVICEABLE. Note the emphasis on serviceable. I don't think he'll EVER be a top-notch QB but I think a team could possibly win on a regular basis. Heck, if he could even manage a completion percentage of 55%, he'd have a shot.

I think serviceable is being generous. Be that as it may, teams aren't giving away draft picks and players for a guy who is "serviceable". You can find guys like that anywhere. Hell, I'd take Brian Hoyer (Brady's backup) to play starting QB over Tebow. Tebow throws like I punt.

I have a true hate for Tebow because he literally spits in the face of every QB that has made a 7 step drop and methodically moved his football team down the field consistently, starting at 7 years old (most of it is the media's fault for knighting the guy, the other half is his silly religion antics that is clearly nothing but an attention ploy. People say they hate Tom Brady. I've said it numerous times. I don't. I respect the living hell out of him because he's possibly the best orchestrator and smartest QB to ever play, right in the same sentence as Manning if not arguably better. I couldn't believe that punk McDaniel's reached #1 to get Tebow. What a embarrassment. I bet he could throw a better ball with his fucking feet. Now, slide him to H-back or Fullback, I'd have an appreciation because he's a helluva FOOTBALL PLAYER, but far from a Q.B.

I was really good friends with his cousin (one of the funniest people I've ever met), so I got to know him a fair amount. He was also only 2 grades older than me, so I saw him play plenty. If the guy can stay healthy (and that's a huge IF), you guys are getting a guy with GREAT hands and a great work ethic.

I just can't get on board with any of this statement. He is not a great NFL quarterback and never will be, but he is not his fault for being played, that is the coach's decision. He is not a fault for being drafted in the first round. Nobody has ever questioned his work ethic and the fact that he is working to improve.
He was a great college quarterback and led his team to two national championships and four great years. Nothing he does in the NFL can tarnish this.
His religion 'antics' are genuine to anybody that knows him. He has been doing the same thing his whole life. It is not his fault that people are putting a camera on him all the time. He volunteers his time and money to help needy people. He only once has taken a film crew with him and this was when he was in college. He wasn't getting paid for this. He has never done anything to make people question his authenticity and believe me people are watching him like a hawk. Some who want to bring him down and some who just want the big story to further their careers.

I can totally understand the criticism of Tebow's QB abilities but I really can't understand attacking his character. What exactly is it that makes you say "the junk he spews is nothing short of knowing exactly where the camera is?"

Everything about him seems scripted. He just rubs me the wrong way. It's almost like he's programmed and was ready for what has happened to him, regardless of how he stinks it up on the field. If that was ME, and I played competitive football, to go onto the media after pitiful performances and smile from ear to ear and talk about the grace of God and how we are one, just wouldn't fly for me. I don't know about anyone else.
As a person, I'd ask him to be the best man in my wedding, but his his personality comes a sense of bullshit. That's how I feel though. I wish I didn't feel that way because his story is great for the NFL.

I find it interesting that you see it that way. I see it the exact opposite....he has always been very involved in charities, religion has always been a major part of his life and he's an all around good person-he doesn't hide that and he's not ashamed of it and I find it very admirable.
